Through it all, I was happy she hadn't found me, much less sent her soldiers out to look for me. She knows I'm valuable that's for sure, hell, everyone in that castle knows I'm valuable. I was glad the little prince, Drew, helped me leave. I guess our midnight talks were getting us closer together. I just hope he's okay.

I have been living in an old shack out in the deep woods, I doubt anyone would come to find me. If they did, however, I won't be so welcoming. I met a witch in these woods, she was kind but slightly crazy. She would put ingredients together that I had never even heard of, some sounded off the charts crazy talk. She knew very well where I lived and I knew very well where she lived. That is if her house sits still for one second. Oh, um, her house has feathers sticking out in every direction, it has a comb too, (roosters have combs on their heads, the red thing), and it has scrawny chicken legs that were almost fifty feet tall. I guess it was good this place had unbelievably tall trees, so you couldn't see it running around the woods. Right now I was in her house as it ran through the woods.

She, Jane, looked at me. Her face was clean and bright. She wore a dress made from black silk and had a silky white ribbon around her neck. She had on cat oven mittens and was holding a steaming pot of soup. She sat it on a pot pad. She sighed and brushed a loose strain of hair behind her ear. She had her hair in a tight bun but I guess her hair didn't get the memo. You might be wondering, why is a witch all dressed up and giving me soup? She has a date with a wizard who came from New Rock. New Rock is a small city built by people who, for some reason, choose to live in caveman times. Houses are made of mud and clay and roofs are made of large stacks of hay. How this man and my friend here met I have no idea, much less got a date.

I leaned on my arm, I picked at my bandages with my other hand. She put a piece of hair behind my ear. My hair was never the neatest. "So," I started. She took a large bowl out of the cabinet above the sink. "why are you all dressed up, how handsome is he?" I was very sarcastic with my tone of voice. She took two spoon fulls of soup and poured them into the bowl. She put it on the table and put her hand on her hip popping it out. "Max, I have a date with a really handsome wizard, he cares a lot about me, I know he does." She got defensive, which was expected. I limited myself from going any farther with the insults. Granted, I had never met the man face-to-face. Even so, I had the freedom to speak. May it be to insult a man I've never met. "Is that why you're making me an extra bowl to take home? I can't stay the night?" I asked. She gave me a soft smile. So, this witch used to be a mom, but her son died in one of the Mary Trials.

If you don't know what the Mary Trials are, they are trials towards magicals (the name for wizards and witches) who used magic without a license. Her son was only sixteen. He was going to get his license after he lost his but wanted to help an old lady with a bunch of idiots trying to rob her.

Jane has been taking care of me for a while, a couple of months. She somewhat adopted me, but still lets me have my independence. "Max, honey, I would love for you to stay the night, but New Rock is a two-day trip, he'll have nowhere to sleep if I let you stay," she explained. I nodded. "I guess that means I'll be leaving then, I'll see you soon, you have a nice night," I said kissing her cheek and putting my weapons belt on. I picked up the bowls full of soup and she knocked on her front door. Her house stopped and knelt down for me to leave. "I'll be in West Hamcost in the morning so I won't be back until late noon." She said before closing her door and her house trotted away. I sighed and looked over to see my shack in the distance. I looked up at the sky, there's a full moon. I knew it was best if I walked in the dark, werewolves hate light so I'm not casting a spell to light the way. I learned my lesson the first time, werewolves will do anything to get rid of light. I hurried towards my shack and made a mental note to put a magical barrier around it before going to bed.

The problem, my magic was never perfect, I am only a witch in training. I have my license so I can't be in the Mary Trials. The smell of Janes soup snuck into my nose. "Little witch, wait little witch!" I turned around to see a very tall giant coming towards me. They were eight feet tall, which also meant they were seven years old. Calling me a little witch was rude and certainly a fact, but he was young and he's said it so many times it didn't matter anymore. He gently patted my head. So this young giant here is Calvin, he's super sweet and loves playing with Jane's house. His parents, Walter and Natalie, constantly tell him to be careful as he's bigger than most animals here. He loves to play with me when I use 'sparkle magic' as he called it. It was a spell used for distracting and it was called distrahere. I could shoot it in the air, wave it around, or use it for light since is did sparkle.

"What you doin' out so late?" He asked leaning over to look at my face. I chuckled and it made him smiled. "I got to get home, I have training with Jane in the afternoon," I stated. "Oh, I forgot that magicals can be goin' weak if they use too much spells." He said. His lack of speech was the cuteness thing I'd ever heard. His parents were the same, giants didn't come around humans much, or at all for the matter.

We made it to my shack, he sighed clearly disappointed. "I have to go in and eat. We can play tomorrow morning okay, 9 A.M. okay?" I said. "9 am?" He questioned. "Yes, never mind, just come whenever you can okay?" I said opening my door. He nodded and ran off to his family. I sighed and went inside. I sat down the bowls and took out my wand, "Protegere!" I yelled as I moved my arms from the floor upward like my arms were rainbows. I formed one, it was weak but it could hold werewolves off. I have no need to worry for gnomes or trolls. They don't live in these woods. So that spell I just cast meant protect in Latin, most of the spells in the magical language are in Latin. I put my wand away and sat my soup in the cooler after moving the wooden planks covering it. (A/N: A cellar under the house covered in ice). I wasn't hungry right now, I just wanted to sleep. I moved the planks back and went to my bed which was on the other side of the room. I didn't bother changing my clothes. I laid down and passed out from today's exhaustion.

I woke up bright and early. I felt for my wand in my pocket, It wasn't there. I groaned and sat up I leaned over the bedside and picked it up. This wasn't the first time I'd dropped my wand after falling asleep.

"Cadere."

That was Latin for falling. I stood up and stretched. I changed into a pair of skinny jeans and a red t-shirt with the two swords on the back forming an X. I brushed my hair pulling it into a tight bun. I put some chapstick on, ate some soup (after warming it up) and went outside. My weapons belt was always kept near me, It was my dad's. He works in Gocks Country. He works with other magical's in the electricity field. He gave it to me and I replaced the tools with weapons full of magic, of course, I still had ingredients on it just in case I run out of weapons.

"Little witch, little witch. Come out and play with me!"
