"One more push, you can do it," yelled Dr.Adams. The mother squirmed around in the hospital cot as she positioned herself for the final push. "Beautiful baby girls, they're --" Suddenly Dr.Adams eyes saddened and immediately reached for an ambu bag. "Doctor, what's going on?" Nina's mom demanded in her winded voice. Dr.Adams finished pumping the last pump before answering. "Twin B is having trouble breathing, we need to perform surgery now, we will cut and insert a trach tube in her windpipe right below her vocal cords to save her life," he suggested. As he gathered a team and medical supplies, he asked for Nina's mom consent. She heavily nodded and pointed to the dad to sign the consent form.
After approximately two hours of intensed surgery, Dr.Adams calmy walked in and removed his gloves to wash his hands. "Twin B will be okay, she's having a sleep study in our monitor room. When she awakes, I will roll her by your beside," he explained. Nina's mom turned her head to face Dr.Adams. "Thank you, Doc," she murmured.
