As Amber lay on the sofa she could hear Roli's footsteps on the laminate. He was pacing up and down. He needed his late walk. She was exhausted work had really tuckered her out. She smiled over at Dario (her husband) he felt her watching him made eye contact and simply shook his head.

"Nope nope I did it yesterday today it's your turn," he said sternly. After a deep breath Amber rose up and walked to the hallway and reluctantly put her shoes on. She was muttering under her breath and sighing loudly.

"Come on then Roli!" she sighed as she clipped the lead to his neck collar. They walked out the door and down their usual route.

Dark and quiet. These walks were time for thinking. Walking the dog can be quite therapeutic. She walked until she reached the park entrance surprisingly it was still open. She rolled her eyes unsure if a park ranger even locked the park at night anymore, it was often open late at night. She walked in while Roli was pulling her along. He was eager today. She reigned him in and he settled down a bit. It was hard to see in the park with the light sparsely shining on parts of the park's path. She bent down and released his lead. He knew the drill a quick run and return when she whistled.

Further into the woodland area they walked. Roli was finding a place to pee and Amber could hear noises in the dark. Tussling backwards and forwards. Scanning the forested area she could see two figures in the distance. They were under a light arguing. As she stood in the pitch black of the night, she felt a presence looming over her. She watched the two figures who looked distinctly like two boys now fighting in the park. Should she intervene? They were only young maybe 16 or 17 years old. But she wondered if she did would they turn on her? She wanted to whistle for Roli but he was off having a pee and she didn't want to draw any unwanted attention on herself. The boys shouting was getting louder and they were full on shoving each other. Punch, punch, kick, push they continued for a few moments until one of the young boys slammed the others head against the street light pole. The boy fell to the floor instantly. The boy that had done it panicked he looked down at him and tried to kick him to see if he would move. No movement. He looked to see if anyone saw and ran down the path. You could hear him crying uncontrollably and panting while he ran away.

Amber could not believe her eyes she whistled for Roli and left the park shaking herself. She couldn't believe what she had seen. She used the phone box at the end of the road and called for an ambulance. She dialled 999 and waited for the response team to send an ambulance she told them all she knew. She didn't use her phone as she wanted to stay anonymous. She took Roli home, once they arrived she didn't say another word. She just stared into space and tried to distract herself. It was not working, she decided to have a shower during this time she was thinking about the events that unfolded in front of her. She did the right thing trying to help the boy. She had no clue who he was but he had a family out there. What were they arguing about she wondered? How did they know each other? It looked accidental but was it intentional? She shivered. As she left the room to go to bed she tossed and turned struggling to sleep.

Really excited by this story it's different to anything else I have written. Usually I write what I know and now I am challenging myself to write something crazy different and this story has emerged from everyday activities like a walk in the park let me know what you think. I think the story gets better as it goes on. But throughout this story I have felt the emotion and I feel like I am there in the room with the characters.
