She had met the man of her dreams. In her eyes, he was kind and loving; he cared about her. Alec Orville, a wealthy to do business man. He was lustful for power and used any means to get his own way. One day he met the most beautiful woman his eyes had ever laid upon. Her soft auburn hair waved in the wind, her deep blue eyes full of curiosity and her aura was strong and overwhelming. He himself was a human but he wasn't ignorant of the magical world that surrounded him in the daily, he even made connections with them.
He had approached her knowing what she was; a powerful yet naive witch. He courted her every chance he got and she didn't make it easy. No. She trusted no one, she was wary of everyone. But she soon found him sincere and kind. It wasn't long til she fell in love with him.
She remembered how he would surprise her with a bouquet of flowers or little snacks and maybe a picnic. It all seemed so... magical. She also remembered the witch hunt. She knew Alec knew what she was yet he was willing to hide her despite the danger and risk to himself.
"Aylah come with me! It's no longer safe here for you." Alec begged.
"But where would we go? All of Europe is on a witch hunt." Aylah cried in despair.
"Come with me to the new world. It was just recently settled. It'll be tough living but you'll be safe and you'll have me by your side." Alex said. Soon after they bordered the next ship heading to the new world across the Atlantic.
It was a tough journey, almost everyone fell sick. Except Aylah. Her witch power protected her but she had to pretend so she wouldn't appear suspicious. She tried her best to help Alec but he was so sick she didn't think he would make it. He barely made the trip and once they had settled in to their own place, Aylah worked around the clock to make him better and keep up with the house hold chores. Living in the new world was hard. Everything was new and different to them and they didn't nearly have as much stuff that made doing everyday chores easy as it did in Europe.
She quickly made friends with the natives due to her witch's power being earth and fire based. They knew what she was, they were afraid of her but she soon realized that she had the kindest soul among them. Once Alec was better she spent a better part of her time learning from the natives or as the other settlers called them 'Indians'.
She learned how to survive in the new world and she shared it with Alec. Alec, the ever present business man, made profit off her knowledge.
"Come on Aylah! This will help the natives! It'll help with the connection between them and us. A better bond if you will. Now go ask them more about living off the land and whatnot." Alec said from his desk.
"I don't know, Alec. It just doesn't seem right. It feels like we are using them!" Aylah stated.
"As your husband you should trust me. In a way, we are using them, But it's only for the betterment of both us and them." Alex argued.
Aylah frowns but does as she is told but she asks for their permission first.
"Does that seem fair? Chief?" She asked the Indian chief after she explained what Alec wanted from them.
"Little blue, you are like a daughter to me now. I think it high time we finally put aside our differences and make a bond like your Alec suggests. We trust you little blue to handle this affair for us." The chief said patting her on her back. Deep down Aylah couldn't shake the feeling that it just wasn't right or fair to the native tribe that took care of her for so long. She returned with the information Alec needed.
"You did a wonderful job Aylah." He said kissing her forehead and patting her head. "Now we can put our differences aside and work together. Winter is going to be harsh this year." He said. And he was right. Winter came and with it came the freezing rain and wind. The whole settlement had harvested enough food for the winter using the knowledge of living off the land.
