Catching You Up

And General Anya... She wasn't as scary as she made herself to be but that didn't mean you can just piss her off for fun. Oh no. Only Raven got to do that and get out of that alive. Somehow. She was exactly as she looked. Scary and serious. And she was the next best, or almost equal, fighter beside Alicia. He had heard she had trained Alicia but he didn't know how. But he also didn't question. She joked too. Very rarely but she did. She seemed to have this weird respect for Elyza. He never asked because he doesn't need to. She's like the mother of the group. But she was like the mother that will shoot you if you get too annoying.

These people were a odd bunch. If you saw them you wouldn't guess that they were a group. Because they were totally opposite! But he liked them. They treated him like a normal person. No bullshitting him like his dad and Madison. If they wanted to say something, they would say it to his face. And not just him, anyone. He had learnt and seen that they didn't sugarcoat things. 'It is how it is so say it like that', was what Raven had said when he asked her this question.

Also he learned about Strand that he always left the others be. He never interfered like Madison and Travis did. He seemed to like them. And he wouldn't say anything as long as Abigail was fine. Which was always the case. And it was comical everytime Raven or anyone would say something and he would agree compared to when Madison would say something.

It was a mild day and Raven was teasing Elyza and Lexa about something and then went into a laughing fit. Elyza was embarrassed because everyone was around them and blushing furiously so Lexa decided to save her,

"You know Raven... Warriors are trained in the art to make their kills look like an accident" Lexa said in an eery tone. Raven's mouth immediately snapped shut. Now it was Elyza's turn to laugh.

"Holy shit I have never seen you shut up so quickly! Even at the mention of the pole you don't shut up that quickly!!" Elyza said giggling.

"Yeah well I very much like my head attached to my body" she replied rolling her eyes.

"What is this pole you guys keep talking about?? I heard you say it a couple of times but I don't know what that is..." Chris asked confused.

"Um well..." Raven said looking at everyone else unsure if they should tell him everything yet or not..

Elyza nodded. So did everyone else. He can be trusted. They all knew that.

"You might want to sit down.... For the next 6 hours..." Raven said to him.

Chris looked confused and shocked but he sat nonetheless. But what he heard in the next hours, shocked him to his core. But also made sense to so many things. He was kinda hurt that Nick knew but also not because he knew how big of a secret this all is. And he promised without a second thought about not telling Madison or Travis mostly because he knew they trusted him and he wasn't going to break it. And also partly because Raven said that he might accidentally step on a bomb if he did tell them. But he won't. They don't need to know anyways. When they finished, firstly, it was already dark, secondly he asked the question he wanted to since he understood everything,

"So the pole is literally you accidentally almost killing Raven.. By a thousand cuts.." he asked unsure pointing to Lexa.

Lexa nodded.

"How is this a joke?! Like, you almost died and you say of it as a joke!!" he said mostly confused pointing to Raven.

"I don't know. It's our thing" Raven shrugged pointing to Lexa.

"A thing which will very well come true if you don't learn to keep your mouth shut" Lexa glared but the glare was albeit a bit playful.

"You can try. But Princess here will never let you" Raven replied casually smirking.

"She won't be able to blame me if you accidentally impale yourself on a sword" Lexa said smirking.

"Okay. Okay. Enough both of you. And accidentally impale on a sword? Seriously babe?" Elyza shut both of them up and asked Lexa with eyebrows raised.

"She started it" Lexa mumbled pouting.

Raven laughed, "The Commander pouts!! Holy shit. I need a camera!!"

Anya, Lincoln and the others were smiling along. Mostly loving because Lexa was opening up but also trying not to laugh along with Raven.

Elyza kissed the pout of Lexa's face and as she was pulling back Lexa pulled her back in and deepened the kiss giving everyone around them a full make out session display for 30 seconds straight.

Raven made a fake gag face and everyone around her laughed this time.

"Okay okay. Ugh. Stop. I get it!!" she half yelled half rolled her eyes.

Lexa pulled back and gave Raven a smirk.

"Yeah yeah whatever Commander" Raven rolled her eyes.

"If you are going to kiss me like that everytime Raven embarrasses me or teases me, please do it as much as you want Raven" Elyza said licking her lips unconsciously.

Lexa and Raven burst out laughing. The others followed suit. They all laughed for a good 10 minutes before the laughter died down a bit.

This is why Chris loves this group so much. They laugh, they tease, but no one takes it to heart. He had tears from laughing so hard. And he can't remember the last time he laughed so much, so freely that he had tears. And this group does it on a daily basis.

And as days went on, he found out that despite being so young, of course older than him but younger than most, the group were very intelligent for their age. It wasn't like the brawn or the brains. No. It was always both with them. With them it was 'The Heart or The Head'. At first he didn't get it but now he does. It's simple really. Your loved one or everyone else's? The Heart or The Head? At first he thought it was cruel for the person making the decision. But that was the point. That is why Clarke and Lexa were a team. Clarke was the heart and Lexa the head. They were like the unofficial but very official leaders and pretty much everyone ran a idea through them after they had one.

Lincoln and Anya had a loyalty to them that never wavered, Raven was just her joking and teasing self and Nick was stuck in between on how to act. Same with Chris. They ran pretty much everything on the yacht. From food inventory to scavenging to training. They did it all. Chris helped too where he could.

Madison and Travis had zero idea what to do. And it showed. Pretty much the reason they never questioned what the grounders were doing. Also because when Madison did question them or Raven in this case, Raven told her to do her own work if she has a problem with others doing it for her. She tried. She really did. But everything went to shit for her. So Raven and the others took back the reigns without a remark or rubbing it in her face. Also something they didn't do. Rubbing victory in your opponent's or the loser's face. Because, 'You either learn or you win. But you never lose' was what Lexa had replied when he had asked.

He knew he had a lot to learn. And they were willing to teach him that. And he was grateful for them. He was just glad to finally have found his place, somewhere where he belonged.
