When Glen had tried to tell her she'd simply said she knew and asked him not to talk about it any more. She knew, both of them knew they couldn't avoid it forever, but she couldn't handle it on top of all of the guilt that coursed through her. She'd killed her own little innocent baby, she'd wanted to save people and it had cost her her baby's life and almost that of her own. All she'd wanted to do was prevent people from getting hurt and in the end she'd gotten more hurt than ever before in her entire life.
"I just want to get out of here, please?" Kate begged and begged, she didn't give up as she looked at her PT from Switzerland and the doctor from Chicago at his side. "Let's do the tests alright. if you get passed them, we'll let you go home tonight. I'll join you at Anmer for a little while longer anyway." Jay, the doctor told her. They'd all become close to her, they'd all been overseeing her care and treatments. All of them admired her for how far she'd come already. They could only imagine what such a normally lively person like her would feel like at being cooped up for so long. She'd come a far way in the last few weeks and if she wanted to go home. She was in a good enough state to go home. If she could pass the tests he would put in front of her he'd let her go. It wasn't like she wouldn't be looked after. PT would go to her twice a day and he would check in on her daily.
"Let's get you to your room for a bit to rest. I'll be there in an hour to run some test and if you pass them. I'll let you go home a few days earlier." Jay explained to her as she nodded her head in relief. for the first time since the last couple of days it felt like she could finally breath again. Like a weight had been lifted of her chest, just the possibility of her being able to go home. It brought an instant change in her and Glen had no doubt that she would make it through the tests. And that by nightfall they'd be settled in Anmer hall. So in the hour they had to wait, Kate took a nap. And Glen called to William and together they made all the necessary and final preparations. Everything being moved a few days ahead in a couple of hours.
An hour later Kate was able to make it through the tests without a hitch. It took a lot of effort out of her and she was happy to have taken a small nap before it. She doubted she would have been able to get through the test. But both Jay and Matteo the PT would be staying at a cottage near Anmer that belonged to the Queen.

Slipping out of bed with some difficulty she looked towards Glen still fast asleep beside her. It was probably the first bit of decent sleep he'd gotten since the shooting. He'd slept with her at the hospital each and every night in quite an uncomfortable chair as far as she was concerned. At some point he'd been provided with a matras. Leaving the hospital in the early evening had certainly been tough on her.
All exits of the house had been covered by photographers, so there was no escape whatsoever. She had to get through them in order to leave the hospital. The flashes from the camera's had been particularly bad. It had brought her back to the museum. The second worst thing was the yelling and screaming as Glen had helped her in the car before getting in himself and driving towards Norfolk.
Catherine and William had been waiting with open arms, Arthur had travelled with them to Norfolk the moment Glen had warned them that Kate would be going home. They'd been given her steady room when she came to stay here.
The thing though was that she couldn't sleep. It didn't feel right to her. Getting up she picked up her robe and tried to put it on with her sling, but putting it on with an immobilised shoulder wasn't very easy. In the end she tried her best to put the strings in a knot, hoping it would remain closed before making her way down the stairs.
Walking out in the Garden she relaxed being able to smell the fresh air. Britain and Europe had been scorched apparently. June had been hot, she remembered that from before the shooting. She'd seen it on the drive to Anmer, the green rolling hills weren't anywhere to be seen. Instead green Britain had become Brown, yellow and dry.
