"I love you," I said.
He smiled and nodded, capturing me in a warm embrace.
"I love you," I said.
He entwined his fingers with mine, not saying a word.
"I love you," I said.
He looked distracted as if he wasn't paying any attention whatsoever.
"I love you," I said.
But he was kissing someone else.
"I love you," he said.
It wasn't for me.
"I love you," I said. "How long have I said that for? Forever and ever."
"But you never said it back."
The next day, she didn't show up at school.
The day after that, she was found dead in her washroom, lying on the floor next to several medication bottles.
Empty medication bottles.
