I jumped an old decrepit wooden fence and slipped a bit, stumbling down to the other side, catching myself with my arms and falling on my knees. I clambered to my feet and took a sharp left only to run head-first into something. I let out a surprised scream, before struggling blindly against whatever had a hold on my arms. Fight or flight flooding my system and suffocating my judgment.
"Y/n! Y/n it's me."
I recognized the voice immediately, ceasing my struggle. Luka still held strong onto my arms, my labored breathing from running taking up the silence. My wide e/c eyes locked with his blue eyes.
"Luka..."
I sniffled, wobbling a bit. He instantly brought me into a hug against his black winter coat, bringing his hand up to cradle the back of my head.
"Hey it's okay, we're okay."
I shivered in his arms trying to stifle my sniffling as he whispered reassuring words into the top of my head. We paused like that until I could feel my heart begin to calm in its beats, which immediately spiked again when I could hear roaring off in the distance.
"Let's go to your house, it's close to here I think."
I pulled away from him and nodded, letting him take my hand to lead me to safety.
Eventually, after walking for a few minutes and taking a few turns we made it to the small backyard area behind the bookstore. We crunched through the snow which was now about a foot and a half high, up the stairs to my door. I pulled out my keys from my zipper pocket and struggled with the lock for a few seconds because of the subtle shake in my hands. Luka took it from me gently and told me softly.
"Here let me."
Once we were inside, we were greeted with Snickers galloping up to us excitedly. I knelt to pet him as Luka closed the door behind us, locking it to make sure we were secure.
"There is not much we can do until Ladybug and Chat Noir defeat the Akuma victim, guess we have to bunker down here till they're done."
I nodded softly, standing up and beginning to take my coat off.
"I have some extra clothes, they might be a bit tight but I'll stick your wet ones in the dryer. Can you text the others to make sure they're okay?"
"Ya got it."
While he took his coat off and started texting the others, I hunted in my closet for sweatpants and a sweatshirt. That's when I spotted Luka's clothes that he gave me on my birthday, I felt a smile tug at my lips as I reached up and grabbed them off the shelf. Then headed back to the kitchen where Luka was leaning up against the counter texting, he set his phone down as I approached.
"Rose and Juleka are at the boat, Alya and Nino are at Alya's house. Marinette hasn't responded but usually she hides when stuff like this goes down so hopefully will hear from her soon."
I gave a relieved nod and handed him his clothes. He smirked at them once he realized they were his.
"This ended up working out well I guess"
"Ya, I think I'll change too."
I forced a smile, still trying to calm my shaking hands.
He followed me down the hall to the bathroom and I went into my bedroom. It was only when I started changing that I noticed the gash on my knee that was bleeding down my leg. I changed into shorts and an oversized sweatshirt so I could bandage my leg. I was hunting for a first aid kit in the pantry when Luka rejoined me.
