"Did you know that sharks have two penises?"

I slowly rose my head from the book I was reading to stare at the girl in front of me. This strange ass person who I only knew because she was the sister of my friend. Why was a 17 year old girl spending time with a 14 year old ninth grader when she had her own friends? The world may never know.

"No I did not know that and why the hell do you?"

"Well, Maria, I think facts are important in life and you have to stay up to date on the sexual organs of fish cause that's the future."

I stared at her a bit more before slowly closing the book and standing up. I turned around and walked out the door of the library. I leaned against the wall outside the library and took out my phone to check Instagram. Soon enough, I heard the door open again and saw Emma run out. She looked around for a bit before spotting me against the wall.

"There you are. Jesus you can't just leave me."

"Look if you're gonna keep saying stupid shit like 'sexual organs of fish' than yes I'm gonna leave. By the way a shark isn't even a fish"

I started walking and Emma quickly followed, staying quiet next to me. Suddenly she asked,

"So what are you gonna be for Halloween?"

I thought for a second and answered,

"I don't know yet but what's the point. It's not like I'm gonna trick or treat."

Emma grabbed my arm and stopped me. She asked,

"Wait aren't you going to the party?"

"What party?"

"Um the high school party? The one everyone goes to? The highlight of the year??"

"Well considering I'm hearing about it two weeks before I'm guessing it's not that cool."

Emma looked shocked at my answered and quickly opened her bag. She pulled out a bright pink wristband with the words 'Hallowscare' written on them and handed it to me.

"Here this is the ticket for the party. I'll send you the address."

I took the bracelet and put it in my bag before looking back at Emma.

"Dude I'll ask my parents but I don't know if I can go. I don't even have a costume."

As I said this Emma just shook her head. She suddenly grabbed my shoulders and said,

"No you have to go. It's a must. I mean if you don't go you'll be the last to learn about all the new hookups and fights! There's always some drama that happens and trust me youre gonna want to see."

"Okay fine I'll try to go."

Emma looked satisfied with my answer and head off in the opposite direction, leaving me to walk to my house. It's not that I didn't like her, I just found it weird that she was intent on being my friend. Ever since her sister had left to go back to France she had gotten very clingy. When I asked her about it she just said she was "helping me adjust to high school". It's funny though because I had adjusted very well before she started talking to me. I think she just missed having a sister but didn't want to admit it.

I kept walking and promptly arrived at my house, where I walked inside all the while humming IDOL by BTS, my absolute favorite band of all time. I went to the kitchen and dropped my bag on the counter before grabbing a snack. My mom walked in soon after and started asking me,

"Hey Maria how was school?"

"Good I guess. I went to the library with Emma."

"Oh yeah. You should tell her to make those chocolate muffins again they were amazing."

"Okay I will. By the way there's a Halloween party in two weeks and Emma invited me, can I go?"

"Oh I don't see why not. If Emma's there then I trust her."

I chuckled at that comment. Emma had the ability to be two different people, so not many adults knew how much of a party person she actually was but her reputation at school was less than stellar.

After the conversation I went up to my room and sent Emma a message,

*Mom said yes for the Halloween party*

And threw my phone on my bed before heading to the shower. When I came back I grabbed my phone and noticed three new notifications from Emma.

*OH MY GOD SO EXCITING*
*Don't worry it'll be unforgettable*
