Characters, setting, and plot details

Hey everyone! So this is my first story, which means it will probably suck a little. Sorry in advance! Anyways here is some info about the characters, setting, and plot.

Setting: The year is 1978 and it's mid-October. School has only been in session for about a month and the weather is perfect. This story is set in Casper, Wyoming.

Main character list and traits:
(some characters will be added later, but these are the main people in this story)

★ Erin Thompson- She's 17 and a senior at Wallows High in Wyoming. She's very funny and constantly uses humour as a coping mechanism due to her parents constant abuse. She's gay but closeted to almost everyone except a few of her friends. Her parents are very strict and very homophobic. She is also very feisty and won't give up when faced with a challenge.

★ Amy Love- She's also 17 and a senior, but she's homeschooled. She lives with her VERY secluded and strict aunt and uncle. Her parents are in jail, so her aunt and uncle have full custody of her. Her aunt and uncle are EXTREMELY catholic, and aren't accepting of anything outside of the Bible. Amy is bi but scared to come out (obviously because she knows what the outcome would be). Amy is shy and funny. She's meek but can be tough when necessary.

★ Lydia Hovecamp- She's 18 and a senior at Wallows High. She's Erin's secret girlfriend in the beginning. She has a distant connection with her family and a lot of friends. She's super smart and super nice to everyone. She's bi and her parents hardly care. Lydia's is a superb person but she easily gives in when the going gets tough.

★ Jack Brady- He's 17 and was homeschooled. He hasn't spoken to his parents in 8 months. He is currently a patient at Clover Mental Institution. He's really sweet and supportive of his friends. He misses his old life. Jack is gay and his parents did not take him coming out too well. He's great at breaking rules though, and is constantly getting in trouble.

★ Nurse Watson Grain- Watson is a male nurse at the Clover Mental Institution. He has only been working there for about 4 months and hates what he has been exposed to. He also found the mentally ill fascinating, but he has come to realise that many of the patients aren't actually ill, just misunderstood. Watson is very relaxed and kindhearted, but can be strict and rule-abiding.

These are the main characters for now! There will be major character development and introduction of new characters throughout the book! I hope you all enjoy this and help guide me through my first writing experience! Love you :)
