"Of course," you responded easily, blinking rapidly before adding, "But that goes both ways."

Hana pulled away from the hug and gave you a look. "Promise me you'll tell me everything."

You nodded reluctantly.

"Including the gossip and the hot boys."

You rolled your eyes at that. Why hadn't you seen this coming? You were about to make a sarcastic remark when your aunt cut into the conversation.

"Small little town, Yangdong. It's only a miracle how your mother and I got out in time." she sighed, looking at you.

"You better get used to having everyone up in your business, literally."

Seriously, how did you manage to forget that!?

It was a small small town, meaning everyone would know everyone else and you'll again be one the bereft outcast. Not that you weren't one already, but this time, you wouldn't have Hana to support you through it all.

You were just royally fucked, weren't you?

"Alright sweetie, we'll have to leave soon or else we won't be able to make it before nightfall." You're aunt sent you a pitying look as she rubbed circles on your back which were meant to soothe you.

You knew she felt guilty about this whole ordeal as if she were neglecting her responsibility. But you didn't want to make her feel like the bad guy here.

"It's alright. I'll just check my room once again and then we can... leave."

'Leave'

Sigh.

Your aunt nodded curtly once she realized that you were indirectly asking for some space and left to u alone with Hana.

You both turned to walk into the house, taking slow steps towards the room you had called your own for as long as you could remember.

"Please just," you halted, yanking the girl's hand in order to stop her. Hana lifted a perfectly curved eyebrow at you in question.

"Visit me as soon as possible."

She smiled sadly and pulled you into another, briefer hug.

"You need to focus on the good, _____," she said, holding both your hands into hers.

"This could be your own new beginning. You need to grow out of your shell. As much as I wish I could always be there to protect you, I know it isn't possible."

As much as you hated the words spilling out of her mouth, you knew she was right.

"I-I know," you pursed your lips, "But I can always hope..."

"Maybe this is... Fate," she stated. "I just hope you'll find someone who cares for you even half as much as I do."

"I'll miss you."

"I'll miss you too. So much."

"You good?" your aunt asked apprehensively, glancing at you once before turning her focus back to driving.

You looked at the diminishing view of your house as the car moved further away.

Goodbye Home. Goodbye Hana. Goodbye shitty 'friends' at school. Goodbye bullies. Goodbye old ______.

You realized you were leaving behind more bad than good.

Maybe this was fate, after all.

"I will be." you nodded, more to yourself than to your aunt.

You reckoned it was time for you to let it go, take Hana's advice and discover a new you.

It was a stupid little village anyway, what's the worse that can happen?
