There's silence on the line once more, I pull the phone away slightly to check if she had ended the call. "Ma?" I ask, when I see the call still active.
"Sorry honey, I'm just surprised that you haven't mentioned her before. But I'm glad, you sound happy. If you want to bring her, your dad and I would love to meet her."
"Thank you. I've just got home so I have to go but let me know what time you want us to come over."
"Okay, I love you."
"Love you too, send love to dad as well, please." We end the call, so I put my phone back in my bag.
Leaning against the wall next to the entrance door, I enjoy the cigarette; the wave of relief washing over me. As I smoke, I look around at the people passing by. There are the usual tourists admiring everything and people making their way home from work. Then I spot the car that Demi uses to be driven around the city pull up in front of me.
I make no effort to move, knowing that Demi thinks I look sexy smoking. Joel steps out the passenger seat and opens the door, allowing Demi to exit. She's preoccupied on her phone so doesn't spot me, even when she stands directly beside me. I decide to have a little fun with her, it's been a while. I discard my cigarette just as Joel sees me and is about to speak, until I hold a finger to my lips, indicating not to say anything. He smiles and nods his head.
I notice her frown at her screen as I move around her. I place my face right next to her ear and call, "Señorita!"
Demi jumps in surprise and I hear Joel laugh from behind me, but nothing could pull my eyes off her. She turns around looking confused. When she realizes it's me, she releases her unmistakable laugh.
"Are you trying to kill me?"
"Definitely not, I jut wanted to see you smile." She wraps her arms around my neck, and I snake mine around her waist, under her leather jacket.
"You are looking very... alluring today." She says quietly to me.
"I think you mean professional, Señorita Lovato." I watch as her eyes drop to my lips.
"I actually meant something else, but we are in public, so..."
We both fail to hide our smiles.
"Should we go upstairs?" I ask.
She nods, then leans in and gives me a quick kiss. "Lead the way."
After we enter my apartment, I spend a little time taking a shower and changing into something comfier, then join Demi on my bed. She's on her phone again accompanied by her frown.
"Is everything alright?" I ask, snuggling up to her chest.
"Yeah, just Kyle is just still going on about doing an interview, to try "fix" my image."
"If you dislike him so much, why does he still work for you?"
She thinks for a minute before responding. "I don't know, I guess he's just always been there, so it wasn't something I had to think about."
"Fair enough." Remembering my conversation with my mum, I decide to broach the topic. "Hey Dem,"
"Sí, hermosa [Yes, beautiful]," She says, still paying attention to her phone.
"Are you busy on Sunday?"
Her entire focus turns to me. "I'll busy doing whatever you need me to." She rests her hand on my arm, in comfort.
"Would you mind coming with me for lunch at my parents." I see an emotion run across her face, disappearing before I can identify it.
"As long as your parents don't mind. I don't want to be in anyone's way."
