BRIAR WAS LOOKING AT the blonde in front of her with an expression that screamed 'bring forth my death', eyes almost rolling into the back of her head as Theodora went on and on in her love-fueled rant. She could practically recount the words her sister was saying in her head, it was like a script that was on repeat every day of her life. Personally, she couldn't see the big deal. Draco Malfoy was hardly painful to look at but his personality made the young Hufflepuff want to eat glass shards and hope they kill her. Maybe she was a bit dramatic, maybe she wasn't. She would ask the woman next to Theodora, but she had doubts in her mind she'd get much of a response- the harsh and cold eyes focusing on her and nothing else in the room. Not once had they changed their target, her gaunt and malnourished face always made Briar shiver whenever it popped up. She couldn't help but wonder who would do these things. Who would kill someone, who would- ''Are you even listening?'' Theodora's annoyed voice cut through Briar's thoughts like a dangerously sharp knife, looking down at her from her place on the table- why Theodora could never just sit in a chair like a normal person was beyond her. ''No'' Briar admitted with ease, her sister groaning in annoyance and most likely thinking about incompetent she found her. ''I'm going to go look for books, as one does in a library. Also, Draco is over there.'
Briar stood up, her sister whipping her head around at such a speed that she was certain the dumb girl would get whiplash, the blond locks of hair hitting her in the face. A scoff escaped her as she made her way over to the other side of the library, away from prying eyes and judgemental glares. She loved her father, truly she did. But Alois Redblood had awful taste in women and even worse taste in step-daughters.
''I almost lost an invisibility cloak!'' A voice crept out through the bookcases, a hushed yell that made Briar raise a brow. Invisibility cloak? Surely they must be off their rocks if they even considered saying those words out loud. ''Harry, stop speaking so loudly- someone can hear you!'' A female voice added, one Briar could quickly assess was Hermione Granger. If she was speaking to who Briar thought she was, then yes- Harry Potter was very much a careless blundering fool blessed with the capability of speaking. Briar wasn't even trying to listen, but more of the conversation was leaking into her head and soon a smile was on her head as she stared at the book in her hands. Invisibility cloak.
