Chapter One: Drained

Pin's P.O.V:
I lay on the soft grass, running my fingers through each gentle blade. I hum a familiar tune, though it's difficult to recall.

"Hey, my heroic leader."

Coiny.

He looms above me, his eyes shining brightly in the morning sun. "Up you go, it's Challenge time." He smirked, bringing me onto my feet.

"Kay." I replied, following him.

Once in the centre of the field, we see Four and X waiting for the rest of the contestants to arrive. They seem to be whispering about something to each other hastily, like they're recalling a story or something. X giggles a little bit, whispering something loud enough for me to catch.

"And then when we..." X laughed.
"No, no, X... don't remind me, hehe.." Four cut him off, chuckling. He then looked around and realized everyone was here.

Weird.

Four quickly cleared his throat.
"Okay, contestants! Welcome to the next challenge of Battle For BFDI." He boomed in his natural exclaimed voice, leaning his arm on X. "Oh." Was all X seemed to muster.

I shot a nervous glance at Coiny. I wonder what the next challenge is going to be.

"So," Four continues, "your next challenge is..."

He pauses.

He literally pauses, like he's not working.

"What's going on?!" I hear Puffball shriek.

"Can somebody clarify?" I hear a voice shout.

Both Lightning and Pillow open their mouths as if to say something, but stay silent, at a loss for words.

Suddenly, Four coughs and shudders.

His eyes hover over each contestant individually, until they fixate on the ground.

Then the colour drains from his pupils, leaving only blank, white eyes.

"The next challenge is to find a partner."
He snaps his fingers.
"You have a month."

I feel my eyes burn, and screaming is heard from around me.

"Go."
