"Where should I put my coat?"
She pointed over to the inside.
"Mine is on Juleka's bed."
I nodded and took off towards the door inside, shutting it behind me. I took a deep breath now that I was finally alone on the ship, walking to Juleka's room and carelessly throwing my jacket on the purple bed. I looked in the vanity mirror shifting and fixing my dress a bit. I couldn't tell if I was overwhelmed by the crowd or anxious about being on the water. This wasn't the first time I was on the boat since the whole drowning incident, but my chest always gets tighter whenever I think about the fact we're over the water.
"Hey."
I flinched out of my casual staring contest with my reflection, looking over at the familiar blonde leaning against the doorway. He had on a white button-up and black slacks. I took a deep breath to compose myself.
"What's up?"
I shrugged.
"I just came in here to put my coat away and take a breather."
He nodded in understanding, stepping into the room closer to me.
"Ya, I'm not a huge fan of parties either. I was looking for you though."
I raised an eyebrow curiously as he pulled a stuffed animal out from behind his back, it was Stitch from our favorite movie. I beamed at it, taking it into my hands.
"You didn't have to."
"But I wanted to."
I squeezed it against my chest, he watched me with a soft little grin.
"You look beautiful tonight."
I look up at him surprised, a blush spreading across my face. Before looking down at Juleka's purple rug, a goofy smile crawled across my face.
"Thanks, I-"
"Hey Adrien, I was looking for you!"
A girl with long brown hair and dirty brownish-green eyes stepped through the door. Her eyes narrowed slightly as she looked at us, and that's when it clicked. This was Lila. Great.
The only background I have on her is that she's a compulsive liar and I should steer clear. She also had a crush on Adrien. Who I was standing very close to. In a dark room. Alone.
"Happy Birthday girl!"
She walked over to me and hugged me tightly as if this wasn't the first time we were meeting. I looked at Adrien questioningly, he shot me an apologetic look. When I pulled away I realized she was just trying to put space between Adrien and me.
"Thanks, I'm glad you could come."
She nodded, latching onto and tugging on Adrien's arm.
"I've been looking for you, Nino is playing my favorite song, let's dance!"
He rubbed his neck sheepishly, looking uncomfortable in her grip. Looking back to me.
"umm... ok Y/n want to come too?"
She sent an icy glare my way which I ignored, opting to throw the Stitch plushie on the bed before smiling at the pair.
"I'm gonna find Rose and Juleka first. But I'm sure I'll see you guys out there."
I walked past them to the door, but Adrien caught my wrist.
"Save me a dance?"
I smiled up at him.
"Of course."
My guilt of leaving Adrien to deal with Lila slowly dissipated after I found my friends on the dance floor. We started to dance the night away jumping up and down to the beat of the music. After a few songs, I was tired though, and made my way over to the snack table with Alya trailing behind me glued to her phone. The table was littered with snacks that had been ransacked within the first hour of the party.
