The day is probably just going to get worse from here. Matthias thought, cursing when he realised that he probably jinxed himself. It was not the worst day he faced, but it was bad enough to make it into a top 10 worst anime episodes list.

To begin with, he'd gotten one and a half hours of sleep that night as he was getting his homework done before school started again.
Honestly, what were the teachers thinking? They piled a mountain of homework into student's bags and filled it like Saint Nick's sack of presents.
Yes, the teachers were to blame, and not the fact that Matthias could not care less about homework throughout the two-month break.

Secondly, Matthias was late for school. He woke up late, missed the bus, and when he finally boarded the next bus that came fifteen minutes later, he missed the bus stop that he was supposed to get off at.
No, it was the dumb traffic light.
There was a traffic light just outside the school that Matthias needed to cross in order to get to school.
Well, Matthias wouldn't have had a problem with it if it didn't take five excruciating minutes to turn green. Perhaps if he jaywalked he would have made it on time. Then he wouldn't have to stand in a queue and wait for his turn to get booked for tardiness.
Since he had a record for being late, even on the first day of school Matthias had gotten sentenced to two hours of detention after school on Tuesday. Perfect. Two whole hours of his life, sold to the school. Though he was pretty sure that he had sold his soul to eternal damnation ever since he joined the education system.

Then, when Matthias finally got released to go to class, Mdm Kay told him to wait outside for seven minutes before she finally addressed him and let him into class. Even that was an issue. She wanted him to greet her with 'gusto'  and Matthias was just too 'out of it' to do so.
That pissed Mdm Kay off and she went on for what felt like an eternity on how important tone was and something about respect.
She went on for so long that her features started to blur together in Matthias' vision. The fuzzy black mob on her head that was supposed to be her hair, which was extremely dry and over teased, slowly began to fuse into her head that seemed like skin stretched across a skeleton. Her prominent cheekbones protruded even more and the dark rings around her sunken eyes spread across her face.
Matthias blinked a few times and he saw Mdm Kay in high definition again and not a monstrous blob of flesh and hair. Though, he wasn't really sure that he wanted to see the clear details of Mdm Kay's face.

When recess finally rolled around, Matthias found out that the canteen had run out of coffee. Well, shit. He had to continue to go through the rest of the school day on the brink of consciousness.
Well, at least there were still chicken nuggets. Even though the canteen stalls were restricted by the school from selling this sacred food because of its high oil content which classified it as unhealthy, there was still one store at the very corner of the canteen that sold this fried golden delicacy. Matthias got twenty. That was perhaps the only part of the day that wasn't a complete disaster.

Last but not least, there was the icing on the cake. Matt Delphine. She was a mythic bitch. Or at least, Matthias had thought that Matt was a girl. Well, Matt didn't make it very easy. Though, finding out about Matt was easy.
He was a new kid so Mr Ezal, their form teacher, simply introduced him to the class that afternoon during Class Contact. "Okay 3A, so this is Matt Delphine and he is going to be joining our class from today."

"Hey, sup," Matt said smugly, lifting his head slightly in acknowledgement. His voice was deep and confident. His posture was relaxed and he was only slightly taller than Mr Ezal, which meant that Matthias was probably a few centimetres taller than this kid. That was good, at least Matthias had the height advantage, though it wasn't like that would have been much of an advantage.
Matt was wearing a branded Addidas black hoodie with the hood pulled over his head, so all that could be seen was his huge feminine eyes, full lips, and eyelashes as long as grains of rice. Even though Matt wore circular gold frame spectacles, his features were no less striking than they would have been without the layer of glass over them. The only physical feature that told Matthias that this odd creature was male was the fact that he was wearing long pants, which were part of the assigned school uniform for male students.
However, the way the fabric of Matt's hoodie fell around his arm suggested that this Matt guy wasn't as feminine as Matthias had originally thought. Matt was quite well built and probably wasn't someone you'd want to get into a fight with.

Yet, Matthias couldn't care less about this new kid. He just continued to read the same book that he had already read through six times before, occasionally glancing up to check on the world around him.
Matthias didn't want to have anything to deal with Matt. This kid was giving him serious 'cool kid' vibes. Matt had already made friends with the 'popular gang' and had sat with them in the morning.
Matthias despised 'cool kids'. The drama, the gossip, the way they judge each other and everyone, the way they act--they are so entitled! No, Matthias wasn't having any of that. He hated 'cool kids' and he hated the fact that Matt's name was the first four letters of his.
Matt was like his shitty doppelganger.

The class was divided into four columns of tables and each column was made up of five pairs of tables. Matthias sat on the left of fourth-row in the far-right column. On the opposite side of the aisle was Jason and beside Jason sat Matt Delphine. This morning Matt had chosen to plant a table in between Jason and Thomas, putting himself right at home with the cool kids. Matthias was just glad that Matt didn't bother him. Surprisingly, that didn't last.

The school had ended and that meant co-curricular activities (CCAs). Matthias didn't mind going for choir practice, the Tenors were great people, pretty much most of the choir boys were.
Although Matthias heard the girls' constant complains about dreading choir practices. Something about practices being boring--well it was their fault that they didn't know how to have fun. He couldn't wrap his mind around why anyone would dread choir practices, until...

God, of all CCAs, why did Matt have to choose choir!

And that is when Matthias thought that the day was just going to get worse. Well with his luck, he was correct because of course, he did in fact, jinx himself.
