I froze, debating mentally whether I should just turn around and leave or, well that’s just it, I’m gonna turn around and leave. I mean there’re really no other options.

You could always go and say ‘hi’, the voice in the back of my head suggested. Yeah, I probably should do that, but I doubt Corey even remembered me.  I did not want to make a fool out of myself in front of his friends. It has been what? Four years, he wouldn’t remember how I looked like, much less my name.

You remembered him though.

‘Yeah, well, I’m known for my exceptional memory.’ I argued back mentally.

My mental conversation was cut short when I realized Corey was still staring unblinkingly at me, staring so hard he could bore a hole into my soul. There’s something about him that seemed to have changed. He looked a bit more mature, but you could still see the mischievous glint in his sea-green eyes, and that smirk tugging at the corners of his lips. His face reminded me so much of home, family, and promises, I could never forget it no matter how hard I try.

My feet seemed to be stuck on the ground, I could not move at all, well not literally, but like I have no idea which way to walk to. Everything else on the campus was bustling, but I was standing still. I started fidgeting with my bracelet again, the charms made a gentle tinkling sound as they brush past one another.

Then without warning, Corey stood up, and started to make his way towards me. He kept his unblinking gaze on me. My heart started pumping wildly; fluttering faster with every step he took. You know the slow motion thing movies sometimes have, to add on to the suspense? Well, that is not happening to me. I felt like everything is moving faster and faster, and he is walking closer to me with every passing second, and I was just having an internal seizure, not that anyone would notice for sure.

When he finally stood in front of me, I felt my breath hitched in my throat, I held in my breath as he looked at me, disbelieve clear in his eyes, and without once breaking eye contact with me, he held up my wrists which totally caught me by surprise. He stared at my bracelet for a couple of seconds before looking at me with a twinkle in his eye and said,

“I knew I’d see you again, Ell.”

He walked closer to me, closing the gap between us and threw his arms around me, locking me in a tight embrace. Then he whispered in my ear,

“I missed you so damn much.”

My surprise began to thaw as I hugged him back tightly. I squeezed him tight to me, unable to utter a single sound because I was still in shock. All of this feels like a dream, a dream that is coming true, a dream that I have been dying for it to come true. Then quite suddenly, I felt my feet leaving the ground and my body began spinning.

“Put me down, Corey,” I gasped as everything rushed by like a blur around me.

“Not until you say you miss me,” Corey chuckled, still spinning me round and round.

I laughed as the wind whipped my hair back and forth and remembering that Corey had always tried to spin me around when we were younger. The only problem was that he kind of lacked the muscles needed in his arms to do that and so the both of us would always ended up in a heap on the ground. He had grown so much stronger considering he still hasn’t dropped me yet, and hopefully will not drop me.
