Remington's POV

Our mother did tell us about the well-known clothing designer who would come to live with us and make special attire for us and important people we know. She just forget to mention the crazy daughters who would be coming along too, as they almost swamped me and make me slightly anxious as they each wanted to meet me. They were nice girls it seemed, but I couldn't help but become curious about the girl dressed like a commoner whose bracelet I took and the way she looked at me like she had seen a ghost or something.

When she looked back, I wanted to be nice to her and so I flashed a smile at her to make her feel more comfortable. Instead, she seemed even more shy than before and left my sight before I could try to talk to her. Maybe I was crazy myself, but there was something mysterious about that girl that I couldn't shake off. Like, maybe I've seen her before or this isn't the first time we met. That seemed impossible since I don't meet many village ladies nowadays.

An hour after the five daughters of the woman who came in here left and went about their business, I couldn't help but want to try to find that girl again. I looked almost everywhere but the castle is so big, she could be anywhere. I stopped in the middle of the hallway when I noticed a strange figure in the mirror on the wall, and saw her in the reflection: standing in the middle of the ballroom behind me. I turned around and her lone figure was somewhat inviting to me and made me want to get to know her more.

I walked into the ballroom and she was facing away looking somewhere else that wasn't my direction, but once I got close enough, I greeted her, "Hi", and that caused her to jump back and almost fall, but I caught her hand and broke her fall. I yanked my arm back toward me to help her stand back up, but I ended up pulling her close to my chest, which made her face flush and turn red. I smiled at her expression and felt my heart beat fast as we were so close together.

"H-Hello, Y-Your M-Majesty", she stumbled on her words as I secretly held her close. "Please", I asked her, "Call me Remington." She looked up and met my eyes, and my heart stopped as the color of her eyes made my brain flash a memory, of a girl with those same hazel-green eyes. Without question, I slowly raised my hand and put it up close to her hair that was covering her right eye but once I did, she pulled away from my grasp and walked farther away from me.

"Wait!", I exclaimed, causing her to stop in her tracks and play with her hands in nervousness. "I promise I won't hurt you", I explained as I stepped closer to her again, "I just need to know something, if you'll let me." She didn't look at me for a couple of seconds, scared that I might hurt her or something, but when she looked into my eyes again, she could see I had absolutely no intention of causing her any form of harm.

She then nodded and took one step close to me as I slowly and carefully brushed the hair away from her face and everything stopped for one single moment as the memory became vivid in my brain and enhanced as I kept staring at the scar of the girl who saved my life as a boy:

"Who are you?", I asked as I stared at the girl who somehow saved my life with a simple scarf, "why do you have that scar on your eye?" She shook her head and stated, "Don't worry about it. It's nothing." I really wanted to know, "But-" She cut me off, "I said it's nothing! At least yours won't be that bad."

"It's you", was all I could get out being so overwhelmed that the girl I had been dreaming about all these years was standing right in front of me, alive and more beautiful than I remember when she was a child. "W-What?", she squeaked out and I pulled her closer to me again which made her gasp in surprise.

"You're that girl who wrapped a scarf around my wound when I fell off my horse as a boy to stop the bleeding and saved my life." Her eyes widened so big, and I couldn't help but smile at her. But then she shook her head and turned away from looking at me, "T-That's not possible. How do you know about that?"

I used my other hand to reach under my collar and pull out a scarf, and once I revealed it, she let out a small gasp and covered her mouth in shock of what she was seeing. I could see tears forming in her eyes and I let her hand go to unravel the scarf tied around my neck and hand it back to her after all these years. She carefully took it, and brought it up to her face and cried into it. "I-I'm sorry", she said in a shaky tone as she shed her tears, "This scarf...belonged to my father before he passed away." She then pressed the scarf against her chest close to her heart and concluded, "I thought I'd never see it again."

She looked back up at me and just stared at me looking so scared, and I wasn't sure what to do now. I wanted to tell her so many things, but my mind couldn't come up with anything. Without warning, her pink lips started forming a smile on her face, and she said with the sweetest and most clear voice since I met her, "Thank you, Remington." Then something sparked in my heart like a lighter starting a small flame.

My mind raced like a wild horse, and my heart beat so fast, I was afraid I might pass out. As I looked into the eyes of the girl who saved my life, I started falling deeper and deeper into wanting to know more about her. I could barely speak clearly as I keep getting lost in her eyes, "Y-You're very wel-welcome."

"Um, w-what's your name, Miss?", I asked stammering for some reason, and then after all these years of just remembering her as a girl who saved my life, that girl finally had a name and it was the most beautiful name I've ever heard in my life. "Dahlia", she answered and then I took her hand and bowed down as I placed a gentle kiss on her hand. Her face turned red as a rose, and I smiled as I felt happiness and satisfied that I was reunited with the girl who I owe my life to and whom I hoped to get to know better so she's more than a girl to me. But maybe something more.

"Remington?", I heard Sebastian's voice call out and I turned to respond back before he came in here and start judging what he was seeing, "Yeah, Seb! I'll be right there!" I turned back to Dahlia and kissed her hand again before stating, "Goodbye, Dahlia. I hope to see you again soon." She nodded and smiled so beautifully, it made my heart leap, and then I walked away and waved goodbye and saw her wave back. I've never felt anything like this in my life, and I think I might go crazy if I don't see her again or know her more.
