"Since when were you so concerned for the rest of humanity? " Katherine questioned teasingly.

I'm not. She answered back silently, the words bouncing around the inside of her head, rolling silently off the tip of her tongue. All of the power, none of the pain. Those words then resurfaced in her brain, the selfishness of them seeping through her skull but she didn't care. Those selfish reasons for not wanting tribrids created would still result in a selfless outcome.

"I've got to go track down lover boy," she dodged her question, a subtle grin on her face as she imagined Katherine's reaction. "I'll see you ⏤" She cut herself off before she could say later knowing she had no idea when later was supposed to be or if it would ever come. "Nevermind." She ended the call, heading downstairs as she slipped Damon's jacket over her shoulders that he'd given her a couple of days ago when he insisted she'd be cold walking home from the bar they went to. She tried giving it back to him but he simply smirked and stated it looked better on her anyway and if she was being honest, she kind of liked wearing his jacket.

The blonde then reached the door, pulling it open casually as she slumped her bag over her shoulder only to be met with Damon as she did. "Hey, babe."

"Babe seriously?" She repeated with raised eyebrows which made the corners of Damon's lips upturn handsomely and his smile only extended when he noticed she was wearing his jacket. It annoyed him sometimes that she looked better in his clothes than he did but it still brought a faint smile to his lips. Fortunately, not only did she look gorgeous in his jacket but it also gave other guys the message that she wasn't available ⏤ one of the reasons he let her keep it.

"You going somewhere?" He then queried, tilting his head in the direction of her bag curiously.

"Just to run some errands." The lie left her lips effortlessly before she had the chance to realise that with Damon her lies always required more effort and detail to convince him it was the truth.

"Errands?" He repeated, a brow quirking up. He was slightly amused at her attempts to lie to him by now but more so intrigued as to where she was rushing off to.

"I'll be gone for the rest of the day so don't try to reach me." She said, ignoring his clear suspicions and trying to move past his body only for him to put his arm up and place his hand on the other side of the doorway, blocking her path and her attempt of an exit.

Olivia blinked back her irritation before she turned to him with a look that made Damon sigh heavily. "Liv, we can't keep doing this." He told her simply, making her brows furrow as she waited for him to continue. "I need you to actually tell me things and stop being so secretive all the time if this thing between us is going to work." He told her, easing out of the harsh tone his voice had initially taken on as he placed one of his hands on the side of her face affectionately.

"What is this thing between us, Damon?" She asked with a gentle sigh, pulling his hand away from her.

"You tell me," he returned, slightly bitter that she'd ask that question with what seemed to be exhaustion and regret in her voice. "I've noticed how you've been acting recently. You clearly don't want anyone to know about us." He told her, recalling how she'd distanced herself from him when they visited Smoky Mountains as well as all the times that followed in which she'd frequently refuse to go to the Grill with him or anywhere in public for that matter; that was one of the reasons they didn't spend much time together.

"Look, I'm sorry, okay." She apologised.

"Let me guess, you don't want people to judge you for being with me."
