3 more days of this.

I told Wendy about what I was imagining about my starry king.

“You could be a writer, Caddy,” she said, using my mother’s nickname for me. I loved it. “You are so imaginative…a crown of moonbeams. I can just see that.”

An idea popped into my head, an idea too delicious to ignore.

“Wendy, will you come with me?”

She stopped from where she was retying her ponytail, letting half of her curls come cascading down her back, the others still clutched in one snowy-white hand. “What?”

“Will you come with me to go find Robin?” I asked again.

She stood there, a few curls escaping her fingers. Finally, she let her whole hair down and plopped her hand onto her lap.

“The Luna Palace is a far away place,” she said finally.

I chuckled. “Wendy, he is not the king of the stars. Stop dreaming.”

She sighed.

“Will you come?” I asked. I hoped. I prayed.

“Fine,” she said. “My parents don’t care about me anyway.”

“I’ll wait for you,” I said. “Message me when you’re ready. We’ll need to pack…a lot. But as light as you possibly can.”

She nodded. “I hope we find your king.”

Now it was my turn to sigh.

“Me too,” I said as she did her ponytail. “Me too.”
