"You gotta be kidding me..."
You stepped out of the bathroom. Not wanting to "wake" Connor, you did your best to leave the house. You slowly closed the door, as quiet as the night. You wanted to punch yourself for heading out in this freezing dawn for some guy. But it's urgent, he said. And you surely hope it is.
You just stayed at Ethan's house for at least 50 minutes. It felt like an eternity. But you were really pissed when you got out of there, so blood-boiled you didn't even dare to look back. Ethan even suggested to call for a taxi to get you home, but you refused. Walking from Ethan's house to yours would take less than 10 minutes.
There streets were empty and a lot colder than before. You were all by yourself , walking in hurried steps while holding your arms to keep yourself warm. At this point, you just wanted to get home in safety. You decided to take a shortcut by passing through the Capitol Park, nobody was there except for some androids doing their usual job.
"Fucking Ethan..." You hissed. "This was TERRIBLE idea! How could he--Did he actually thought I was..." You growled and kicked a pebble away, making some noise. Seconds later you heard some mumbling.
"Don't move!" Suddenly a woman pointed a gun at you, startling you.
"North... Calm down." A man appeared. Then you notice: it was the android who made the broadcast speech recently.
You put your hands up.
"She's a human, Markus." The female android called North said. "We have to take her down..."
"No!" You begged. "Please, don't shoot me."
"What are you doing here at this time?" Markus questioned.
"I was just... heading home." You replied.
"All by yourself?"
"Yes..." You said. "Look, I'm sorry if I alarmed you. But, please, I don't wanna get shot again."
Markus stayed silent for a moment. You were extremely nervous, with no guarantee of what will happen. You just encountered the deviant leader, the one who's really want to start a revolution to save his own people. But the android sighed, and chose to spare you. "Let her go."
"But Markus..? What if she turn us in?" North opposed.
"She won't."
North lowered the gun, and put it away. "We don't have much time." She left, and Markus turned around to follow her.
"Markus?" You awkwardly called, the android looked back at you. "Can I... talk to you?"
Markus walked over to you, ready to listen. "I'll get the truck." North said, then left.
"I know this is kind of awkward... But I'm sorry," You said. "for... y'know... Shitty humans. But I have to ask... Why didn't let her shoot?"
"I'm here to save lives, not take them." Markus stated. " North gets very uneasy towards humans, unlike me. But all I want is my people to be free, not seen as merchandise and living under humans' bidding."
"I understand... And I understand your cause." You said. "I've always seen androids as somethin' else... I support you."
"That's... great to hear." Markus said. You could see in his eyes: he was really determined. You looked down. "You seem... stressed. Are you okay?"
"Nah, I'm just... I'm just stupid." You chuckled. "It's kinda funny... I'm also trying break free.. from someone."
"I hope for your freedom." Markus said.
