Katelyn finished her painting. She was happy this time. For once she could to sell it. For the last three weeks, Katelyn had been struggling. All she wanted to do was to paint. She had always dreamt of becoming a famous artist. She moved to San Myshuno in hopes of achieving her dream. She hadn't gotten any closer until yesterday.
She was painting on her easel. She was standing outside the art gallery when Mr Smith approached her. Edwin Smith owned the art gallery and made all the decisions touching the gallery. Mr Smith told her that he had seen her work and was willing to buy her art. Mr. Smith was not the old man you'd expect to be the art gallerys owner. Mr. Smith had inherited the gallery from his dad and was still in his early twenties, just like Katelyn.
That was one of the only times Katlyn felt like she had achieved anything. Her dad left for the army when Katelyn was only ten. Her dad didn't only leave Katelyn. He left Katelyn, her sister Faith and their mom with drinking problems.
It was when Katelyn's dad left she started drawing and painting to get away from her reality. After thirteen years, painting is almost the only thing that makes her truly happy. Not counting her boyfriend Russel. That stands for the only social part of Katelyn's life.
In the hands of depression, Katelyn couldn't make friends in school and was never able to get a job. Her sister threw Katelyn out when she was only sixteen and in those circumstances, she couldn't finish school. When she got kicked out she lost all the contact with her family.
Now years later she bought an apartment. She might be able to live off of her art. It wasn't strange that Katelyn was happy but it was a rare happening.
Katelyn took a step back and looked at her painting.
"It's beautiful." A voice behind her said. Katelyn knew that voice. It was her boyfriend, Russel Hayes.
"Are you ready to go?" Russel said jokingly, it was obvious that she wasn't.
"No, not yet. I'll go and change." Katelyn said.
"I'm already waiting," Russel said teasing her.
Katelyn changed from her painting clothes to a light purple silk dress. She put her red hair up in a half-up half-down hairstyle and walked out to Russel.
They walked under the city lights. There were no stars in the sky, this was San Myshuno. It never really got dark there were always lights that lit up the busy city. Russel walked Katelyn to the park. In the park, you could get away from the city while still in the city. There were trees and almost like a forest. Even tough you could still see the city and the lights but you didn't feel the stress or hear the sounds from karaoke bars and the festival.
Russel walked Katelyn up to her favourite tree. That was the tree Katelyn used to read underwhen she had just moved to San Myshuno. While standing there Russel went down on one knee.
"Katelyn Alicia Wyatt, Would you like do make me the happiest man on earth and marry me?"
"Yes, of course! I would!"
Katelyn couldn't believe it. After three years together it happened. Russel wanted to spend the rest of his life with her!
