Day Twenty-One Prompt: Mountain

Stomping through the dense trees,

Barely glimpsed between green leaves,

A creature moves swift and silent,

In the brisk and bracing climate.

For there is something strange he has found,

Lying upon the dusty ground.

He's not quite sure what it is,

And it is sending his brain into a tiz.

An odd lit hut sits right there,

Where before, the place was bare.

There's vibrant colours on sheets,

And some utensils for which to eat.

But his eyes widen as he hides,

And he cannot disguise his surprise,

When a creature emerges just like him,

Only it has less hair and is a bit more dim.

From his hiding place he watches and waits,

As the being wanders and picks up some plates.

But as he moves for a closer look,

A wrong step on a twig is all it took,

For the thing to turn and lock eyes,

With him, thus a plan he did devise.

He stood and ran back through the trees,

Breaking branches in his haste with ease.

And as the Bigfoot came to the mountainside,

He stopped while his mind surmised,

What on earth had just taken place,

As his heart continued to race.

There was no other explanation for what he had seen,

It was a creature of legend! It had to have been!

A cryptid he'd heard of others speak,

Right here on his mountain peak.

The Bigfoot stared out at the view,

Calming from the encounter true.

A little smile graced his mouth,

As he continued up and out,

Across the edge of the mountain way,

Feeling a little more hopeful on this day.
