Day Eighteen: Prompt: Beetle

The clouds weep their labour,

Upon the unforgiving earth.

Droplets of water cascading,

In perfect rhythm and verse.

And into this land of falling chorus,

Emerges a beetle, gentle and quiet.

An iridescent shimmer on its back,

And the rest coloured paintbrush black.

He is a rain beetle you see,

And delights in the melody of water.

A little dance to show appreciation,

Is part of his traditional ritual.

So while you curse the wet and damp,

And fight with umbrellas in flood lit streets,

Just remember there are those that find joy,

In the simple flecks of sky travelling

To the ground from on high.
