"Aw come on Lo, it's Friday, you ain't got no job, and you ain't got shit to do!"

I rolled my eyes at my bestfriend Justine on the other end of the phone like she could see me. Here she was again trying to convince me to go to a party that her boyfriend Antwon was throwing. She knows I hate parties, or anything that got too many people involved. I just like my space.

"Girl how many parties it's gone take for you to understand I.dont.party. It's not my thing. And you know this so why we gotta go thru this every time Antwon has a party"

I know people say the twenties is for you to live it up and figure out life later, but damn. Antwon had a party every weekend seem like. And it be for no damn reason, just to turn up. I'm not judging them or thinking less of them, I just don't party so I don't understand how someone can do it over and over and over.

"I know girl and you know I wouldn't even ask you, but it's Antwon's birthday. Please Lo I wanna get lit and I only trust you to take care of me. Pleassseeeee Lo pleasseeeee"

After letting out a deep, long and dramatic sigh I finally agreed to meet her at the party tonight at eleven. I glanced over at the clock seeing it was only seven I had some time to myself before I left. I glanced around trying to find something to occupy myself with.

Sometimes I feel like an old person that doesn't like people and just wants to stay cooped up in the house. It's not that I don't like people, it's just less drama and confusion with limited friends- and plus I have Justine and she is all the friend I need. Her outgoing and lovable personality is the perfect match to my laid back personality. Justine and I are both from Miami, Florida and attend school at Clark Atlanta. We met in fourth grade and been besties all the way through school- up until now; our sophomore year of college. She loves the idea of living in a dorm, with roommates bht me on the other hand; I prefer my small one bedroom apartment on the far side of campus. My dad and stepmom was able to pay my rent for the entire school year but left everything else is my responsibility which is why I picked up a part time job at the JC Penny's in SouthLake mall.

Biologically I am my dad's only child. My mother passed when I was born due to complications, leaving my dad to take care of a newborn baby all by himself. When I was two, he met and married my step mom, who already had a son, Corey, from a previous relationship. When we met Corey was only five years old and from what I've heard was ecstatic that he had a younger sibling. Ever since I could remember he always looked out for me and made sure I was good at all times. He's literally my other half and I don't know what I would do without him.

But once he turned about 15, things changed, Corey started chillin with a different crowd and got introduced to a bunch of different things. Then all of a sudden he was coming home with new clothes, new jewelry, new teeth. Corey went from my loving and sweet big brother to somebody that acted like if they wasn't hustling they would be down bad. Being that his mom is a Nurse and my dad owns a construction business, we weren't struggling. Of course it wasn't always like this but no matter what we ate, we had clothes on our back and a roof over our head.
