Sidon's POV

The party had subsided. Link had disappeared again. He probably ran off to go catch hot footed frogs or maybe to go back to saving all of Hyrule.

All I knew was I was alone with my thoughts now. Everyone else was asleep except for the guards. They didn't pay me any attention. They never usually did anyways.

Come to think of it... Nobody really paid any attention to me. Well, other than those women... they do not do a very good job of hiding their fan club.

I did my best though. Forcing a smile in the worst of times. Because someone would need that encouragement. And half because it helped me feel better. It wasn't necessarily forced most of the time, truth be told, I am quite a joyful Zora.

It was hard now though, staring my sister in the eyes. Or, rather, what remained of them. What remained of her. A fountain... that is all that was left of Mipha.

Oh how I missed her....

While lost in my own sorrows, something tugged on my arm fin.

Part of me expected it to be one of the children, coming to ask me if I have seen the veiled falls shrine or, well, whatever that song is about.

But... instead of a small Zora, there was a (probably normal sized) Hylian.

"Link! I-" a sigh escaped my lips, thankful that the Hylian was still here and yet just exhausted. About everything... "I am sorry you had to see me in such a moment of weakness."

Link smiled a little bit and walked closer, fleshy feet making a weird noises on the ground.

"Link, what are you- oh..."

He wrapped his arms around my hips, unable to reach any higher.

I smiled too and crouched down, putting a hand on the Hylians upper back.
"Why thank you, champion."

A shaky exhale rattled his ribs, and Link hugged me tighter. His small fingers gripping almost desperately at my scales.

I watched almost a daze of confusion as he blinked quickly, then pulled back and rubbed at his eyes.

The all mighty champion of Hyrule, Princess Zelda's sworn knight, the one chosen by the master sword... was crying. In front of the likes of me, no less.

I didn't know quite how to react. Other than to just cradle him closer to my chest.

Link sniffled and let his squishy cheek fall against my chest scales.

'I'm so sorry, Sidon. It's all my fault.' He signed, hands shaking like leaves in the wind.

A frown spread onto my face.
"Shh... no, no it is not my pearl. There was nothing you could've done."

Link pulled back again, rubbing his eyes some more.
'If- if I had just been faster. If I never had to go to the shrine of resurrection-"

"You would be dead right now. And now is the time Hyrule needs you the most, Link." I interrupted, putting a hand over top his.

Eyes more blue than any body of water in the whole domain met mine.

"You're exhausted... aren't you?" I whispered, not really thinking, and putting two fingers under the Hylian's chin. Stopping it from shaking so terribly.
