Long story short

The next day

Y/N's POV

Me and River got home last night around midnight. We would have gotten home sooner but i had to say goodbye to Lauren one more time last night. Before i went to bed last night i text Lauren to tell her i got home safely and to tell her goodnight.

I slept in till about 10am this morning because i had to drive all the way back home. once i woke up i went downstairs and saw my dad in the kitchen making breakfast and River at the dining table. 

"hey sweetie how was the rest of your trip" my dad asked me coming out of the kitchen to hug me

"it was good, we met a whole new family that we are friends with now and River and I actually made new best friends with some of the siblings" i say sitting down at the table next to River

"what about hazel?" my dad asked and my smile quickly faded

"eh she was never really that good of a friend anyway" 

"oh I'm sorry Y/N" my dad says bringing me my breakfast

After I ate i went upstairs and changed into some black jeans and a light blue hoodie. I then went to the bathroom to fix my hair. I walked out of my room and went to go say hi to my mom who was stuck in bed because she still had the flu.

I stayed in my room a lot today. I played the guitar and keyboard. Ive been working on a new song. i pretty much have the musical part done now i just have to finish the lyrics.

Its now about 7pm and my dad has a work dinner to go to and my mom is asleep so its pretty much just me and River now.

After my dad left i heard a knock on my bedroom door

"come in"

"hey can i ask you something" River says coming in and closing the door behind him

"uh ya come sit down" i say sitting up on my bed and patting the space next to me

"so yesterday um Dani took you up to her room for something but then like 10 minuets later Dani came back down and you were still up there, what were you doing"

I look at him with a worried look. Do i tell him? i mean i tell River everything. He knows me better than anyone on this planet. screw it

"ok i guess i should tell you" i said nervously 

"so the day i said me and Lauren were hanging out i took her to the tree house me and dad built a long time ago, long story short i sang her a song, she almost started crying, i stood up to hug her, we like got lost in each others eyes, and almost kissed, but we didn't because a squirrel scared us"

"OMG Y/N" he said standing up and yelling "i told you it was a date" he said sitting down winking at me

I punched his arm "it wasn't a date"

"ok keep going"

"ok so i took her home and walked her to her front door, before she opens the door...i might have kissed her cheek but thats only because we looked into each others eyes again and i had to do something"

"so why didn't you just kiss her" he said confused 

"because i didn't know if she liked me" 

"do you have more to the story?"

"ya i do, the rest is from last night. So obviously i went up to dane's room but thats because she had a 'plan' and that was to surprise Lauren"

"why would you need to surprise Lauren-" i cut him off

"just wait. so Dani never told Lauren i was coming so she had this thing where she would yell for Lauren to go to dani's room and i would be in there. after Lauren saw me she ran and hugged me and pushed me down onto the bed so like she was laying on top of me hugging me. later she just took me to her room and that s probably when Dani went back down stairs. me and her took polaroid pictures and she gave me one of them to keep and then.." i paused worried to say the next part

"and what?"

"and i tripped over a cord on the floor and Lauren caught me but what happened is that she back up into a table and i basically ran into her so like our fronts were touching and my hands ended up on her hips and then in that moment i just said screw it and decided to tell her that i liked her. she said she liked me back and so she started leaning in and i told her if she wasn't ready for that then it was ok but she said she wanted to so then we...you know..."

"OMG YOU GUYS KISSEDDDD" River said jumping on my bed

"hey calm down it was just a kiss" i said half lying because it also was the best thing in the entire world

"wait so let me guess you used your hoodie as an excuse last night o go back upstairs so kiss Lauren goodbye one last time" he said smirking at me

"how did you guess that" i said raising an eyebrow at him 

" because i know you Y/N Y/L/N"

"well i still ended up leaving my hoodie there for her too keep" i said looking down trying to hide my blush 

"wow thats just too cute" Rive said sarcasticly

"oh shut up" i said punching his arm

"so you gonna ask her out soon" he said giving me another smirk

"uh i don't know. i want to because I've fallen hard for this girl but we live a hour away from each other" i said disappointed

"i don't want to say this but you are 22 Y/N you can move out" he said kinda sad

"ya i know i can but i don't want to leave you"

"well i know you wanted to go to collage back in Malibu anyway"

"that is true"

"how about you just talk to mom and dad about it until then maybe we can go surprise her" he said putting his hand on my shoulder 

"thank you River" i said pulling him into a hug "Love you bro"

"i love you too Y/N/N" he said letting out a little chuckle 

"ok im gonna go get ready for bed now i'll see you tomorrow Y/N" she said opening the door to leave 

"Night River" i smiled as he closed the door

I changed into some night clothes and played down in bed then all of a sudden a bunch of lyrics came to me, i jolted up and grabbed my phone and went to my notes and started typing

'this will be don't by tomorrow' i thought to myself 

once all the lyrics i had sought of were in my phone i checked the time and it was 9pm so i decided to send Lauren  goodnight text even though she might already be asleep. i sent the text and didn't get a reply meaning she is already asleep.

I close my eyes and slowly fall asleep.
