"What did you gather us here for? I have plenty of work to do and I don't need the two of you wasting my time," Aihara grumbles, obviously not wanting to hear anything that you or L had to say.

"Well, this is important but you are free to leave if you so please," L replied, not having the patience to deal with the older male. Aihara huffed, folding his arms across his chest. Even though he didn't want to associate with you, he had to acknowledge L since he was an important part of the Kira case. If they lost him, there was no way in hell they would ever find the one who was committing this act of mass murder.

"As you all know, Miss Yagami works undercover and she hasn't had a chance to fully show us her capabilities. Together, Miss Yagami and I have come to the decision that we will have her investigate those we suspect to be the second Kira. From there we have the chance of them revealing themselves as such and possibly telling us who the main Kira is."

"Wow, does that mean we get to see 'A' action?" Matsuda asked, sounding excited. You nodded your head.

"If you feel that this will be useful, I will go out and gather information regarding the second Kira," you answered, waiting for one of the other task force members to speak.

"Where would you go?" Mr Yagami asked, seeming worried. Even though you knew what you were doing, it was worrying sending his daughter out into the field. There was no guarantee what would happen out there, as with the rest of your missions, each one was a risk. But you knew that this one was safer than any other you had done, your normal work usually involved getting close to gang members and drug distributors, this was child's play.

"There's a party tonight where two suspects will be, it won't be difficult," you attempted to assure him. By the look on his face, you could tell how worried he was. It wasn't the first time you had seen that look, he gave the same one every time you would have to go out and do something new. He was especially worried when it came to you, it used to make you feel down due to your view that he was patronizing you but now you understood how he looked at it.

He cared about you and even though you didn't really see him as your father, he definitely saw you as his daughter.

"How did you know about the party?" Light asked, only knowing of it since his girlfriend had invited him and he had declined the invitation. You lent back in your seat, index finger and thumb rubbing the material of your hoodie.

"I have my ways of finding information but that's not important." He watched you carefully, almost with suspicion. A snicker caught the attention of the group, everyone turning to look at it's source, Aihara.

"Are you sure this isn't an excuse for her to mess around, she's a kid for god's sake. I wouldn't be surprised if this was all an act to get a night out." Light's gaze hardened into a glare, meeting the police officer's eyes.

"Why do you keep putting her down? She's just trying to do what she can to help," the teen argued, looking really annoyed by the way the older male had been treating you. Aihara shrugged his shoulders, not really seeming to care.

"She says she's doing her own work but do you have any evidence of that and how do you even know it's the real 'A'. The girl walked in here, said she was 'A' and now acts like she owns the place." You bow your head to the older male, looking up at him to see his shocked expression.

"I apologize if my behavior has disturbed you, I try my best." You weren't looking for sympathy but Mr Yagami approached you, petting your head affectionately, like a father would to his daughter.

"We know and I'm sure Aihara does too, he's just uptight about newcomers but I'm sure he'll warm up to you eventually," he assured. You could tell that he was lying through his teeth, this Aihara guy probably wouldn't ever see you as an equal and that was just how it was.

You had come to terms with the fact that not everyone would like you a long time ago and that was just fine. It was during high school that you had realized it, you hadn't spent long there since you were above the other students in relation to academic level. And because you excelled, others liked to put you down and make you feel lower than them, putting themselves and their friends up on a pedestal. It was a childish and immature way of dealing with others but it worked, you had met adults who still did things like that. Aihara, unfortunately, was one of them. But because he worked with Mr Yagami, you did your best to try ignore and accept his behavior. Now it wasn't about what you thought was right or wrong, what it came down to was what was more convenient.

Mr Yagami snapped you out of your train of thought by giving your shoulder a squeeze.

"Anyway, I am very worried about this like any other father would be but I trust you, we'll provide you with anything you need." You sent him a nod, eyes drifting across to Light who was staring at you.

"I need Light and I'll take care of the rest." The others, except L and Watari, seemed shocked and watched as the teen approached you slowly.

"You need my help? Why's that?" he asked, seeming confused by the whole situation. You opened yourself up a little and gave a reassuring smile to your brother, watching as he softened beneath your gaze.

"Trust me on this, Lightbulb. I'll take care of it." Aihara opened his mouth to speak, perhaps even argue, but stopped when the chief's eyes landed on him.

"(Y/n) will be going on her first mission tonight," he announced, pausing to turn to you.

"Good luck." You bowed your head to him, thankful for him standing by your side. Even after everything that had happened, you not sending them anything to let them know you were okay, he still saw you as the same. But you wondered whether that was a good or a bad thing.

He gave his support because he believed in your abilities but he also treated you like you were fragile, like the lightest touch would cause you to shatter. You were happy to have him on your side but was it out of care or sympathy. After studying psychology you found yourself watching people carefully, finding comfort in knowing how their minds worked. You enjoyed seeing their little quirks, experiencing the things which they did unconsciously. And even though he was doing it without knowing, Mr Yagami was taking care of you, just like he would with any other person who needed help. But he was still hard to read.

Was this out of love or unconscious kindness?

I can't wait to write about the party, there are two original characters that I want to add really badly. I can't wait to write about them. Thank you for reading!
