Connor slowly nodded, thoughtful. His LED flashed yellow one last time before turning back into a calm tone of blue. "Okay... This won't happen again. Thanks for the advice."
"The night I was shot, when I was at the hospital... I was scared, too." You felt relatable to Connor's situation. "I was in the emergency room... It was so much pain I thought I was dying, and I was. I thought I'd never see Uncle Hank or Cole ever again... I was really scared."
Connor glared at you once again, paying attention to you. "But you're here."
"And so are you." You smirked. "The moral of the story is: people get scared, and there's nothing wrong with it. We fear death. And I think it's understandable that deviants can also fear death. Nobody wants to die."
"But they're not alive, (Y/N)." Connor opposed. "They're just simulating emotions. It's not real."
"A while ago when Hank asked you if you were afraid to die..." You said. "You said you didn't want to be 'interrupted'. There is some concern over dying in you."
Connor stayed silent for a few seconds. He wondered if he'd just stop arguing about that, since you're being too stubborn to accept that he's a machine. His "concern over dying" doesn't exist, in his point of view. Connor just wants to be efficient enough to accomplish his mission, and being "interrupted" doesn't make part of it. "I only exist to accomplish my mission." He stated. "I still think it would be regrettable to be interrupted. But that means nothing to me."
"I see..." You scoffed, a bit annoyed. "Huh... Hank got one hell of a partner."
"But what about you?"
"What about me?"
"What it was like to be Lieutenant's partner?"
"You sure want to know a lot about me, don't ya?" You raised your brows, kind of impressed with Connor's curiosity.
"Sorry. No need to tell me if you don't want to." He said.
"It's okay." You said. "I'm just not used to talk about me. But well, since I was new at all this cop stuff, Uncle Hank obviously took the responsibility of being my main mentor. And, honestly, I've learned a lot from him."
"It must have been great working with him." Connor commented. "You two must have made a great bonding together."
"We've been this close for a really long time, Robocop." You decided to explain more about your relationship with your godfather. "After my dad became a huge asshole, Hank tried to talk to him about his addiction, convince him to stop using Red Ice for my sake. It came a time that he was too miserable to even look at me... That was when Hank decided to take me to live with him and his wife, Diana. I was thirteen at the time."
"I didn't get much information about his ex-wife." Connor said. "Who was she?"
"Diana was a saleswoman--the only female influence I had in my whole life, actually." You furrowed your eyes as you tried to remember her. "She was pretty sassy, but kind of cold. But she was never mean to me, so we were fine. We all lived together for two years, then I found out that Diana was pregnant. Hank said I'd be a big sister and, Jesus, I got so excited! But I was scared at the same time."
"Why would you be scared if you were so happy?" Connor questioned.
"I was scared that they might abandon me, since their child was coming soon." You smiled to yourself. "But it was the other way around. When Cole was born, we were so happy. I think he was the one who sticked us together. And I felt so... loved... I felt like a had a real family. But some time later when Cole was three, Hank and Diana started arguing a lot and they ended up divorcing. So it was just Hank, Cole and me since then."
