Once Upon a time

Campfire [ Part 1 ]

After putting my last bag in the car booth, I double check our " travel check list".
" Wait! Who was in charge of the fire kit ?" Ask my friend Gina walking out of the house with some bucket and bin bags.
"I was. I put the kit in the box behind the sit, in the corner" answered Jace, pointing to the back of the car.
"I just checked everything, and I am happy to announce that, we're good to go!" I add with a smile.
"Well kids, another big adventure for you" said my dad
"Honey, they go on the same 'big adventure' every end of year. You'll have to get use to it someday" replied my mom passing an arm around his waist.
I got closer and gave them both a goodbye hug, whilst my friends were getting in the car.
"You all be careful young adults !"
"We'll be Mrs.Hall" replied Kolby behind the wheel.
We all waved them goodbye, hands out of the windows while driving away.
"Happy summer gang !" Giggled Sierra, followed by everyone joyful cheers.

This is our summer 2019, and we are officially on summer holidays, and this one is special, it marks the end of our college time. The difference to the other summer is that, this time we are going without the camping group.
Sierra, Kolby, Gina, Jace, Alec, and myself have known each other since kindergarten, we went through a lot together, goods and bads, but like my dad say these friendships are tantalum. We've join the camping group during the first summer of secondary school, so we can say that we are camping savvy's.
This year is even more peculiar because it's our last year together, we will all be going to different universities next year, we have so hoped to make all the best of this summer.

We were singing along some tunes, and chatting when I felt my phone vibrating in my pocket.
[text messages]
- Sierra - soooo. Last chance of doing it , this summer ?
- Octavia - I don't know.. I am not sure I am ready to just reveal myself like that..
- Gina - I know you have the 2 months of summer but, it's kinda now or never.. who knows what will happen to him in Montreal..
- Octavia - well. Montreal is pretty close compared to London..
- Gina - why are we having such a depressive conversation right now ?! I mean, ITS SUMMER HOLIDAYS we shouldn't be thinking about that now.
- Sierra - RIGHT ! But, O', know that we are here to support you !
[end of text messages]

"Gina, can I have some water please" I asked my friend sitting on the passenger seat.
"You got a new water bottle ?"
"Yeah it's the turquoise one"
"Nice looking one"
"You know she got it on the hydro website just so she could personalize it" laughed Jace "we were in chemistry class, and she was showing me designs to help her pick".
"Jeez Jace, you were no help at all ! Believe it or not he wanted me to pick some, lavender, pinkish one !"
"Oh Jace that's low" we all laughed.
We started to play some games, when Alec and Sierra we're begging to stop for some restrooms.
"There's a station in 15 minutes" noticed Kolby.
"I'll take the wheel after" said Alec.

We stopped for the restroom, to do some stretches, to eat, and to check the activities we'll be doing at the camping. They have opened new campsites zones, far from the main campement, up more isolated in the mountains, that is where we picked our spot.

I was lying down on the picnic table bench when a shadow came over my upper body.
" You know we won't have any regrets forgetting you here if you fall asleep, right ?"
"I am looking forward to what my brothers will do to you if you even dare thinking about forgetting me here"
He giggled
"True, brrr, just getting the shivers thinking about it. Did you noticed, the flyer said that there's an ice skating rink now on the camping ground"
"What ?" I surprisingly sit up "no way, where ?" I say trying to take the flyer off his hands "Alec stop playing, give me the booklet"
We laugh while I ran after him. I think he thought I was far, when he faced me, I took the occasion to tacked him down, and starting to tickle him.
"Give me the booklet Alec. I won't stop until it's in my hands"
He was laughing so much I think I made him cry. Which made me lower my guard and stopped the torture, but to my surprise it took him less time than I thought to regain his emotions, and to roll us over.
"ALEC DONT!" I laughed screaming while he tickled me "AHAAHH-AHLEC-HAHAH"
"And once Again, the winner is Alec Ewart, woop woop" he cheers to himself standing up.
He forgot about the flyer, that I stole from his hand and ran to the car with.
"Oh my god ! It's true ! They did built an ice skating rink !"
"Oh no.. we lost her.." stated Kolby ironically
"No you didn't. We don't have to spend all our time there, I know it's there so we can go from time to time, to relax"
"You mean, for YOU to relax and for US to look ridiculous"
"Kolby, only you and Jace will look ridiculous, the rest of us know how to ice skate" replied Gina.
Which made the rest of us laugh.
"I guess we should start going, it's 4:30pm already and we have at least 3 more hours or so of driving." Put Sierra "Alec, do you want me to be your copilot?"
"No way! We're not getting lost so close of our destination" he smiled amusingly
"Heyy I know how to give directions!" She tap him on the shoulder.
We laughed getting in the car.

The rest of the road went pretty smoothly, I reckon everyone apart from Sierra and Alec fell asleep.
