"Suilad onónë." Martha lowered her head in greeting, it was how one respected their siblings and something she would never allow herself to forget no matter how much time she spent in the human realm.
"How are you Maeralya or should I call you by your given human name....Martha wasn't it?"
Martha didn't miss the way her older sister smirked at the name, it was something she teased her over most times they talked.
"Very funny Serenity, nice to see you haven't lost your sense of humour."
"Why would I lose my sense of humour?"
"Working for the king all these years, hidden away beneath the castle. I'm guessing you don't get much social interaction unless it's absolutely necessary, it surprises me that you still have the ability to make a joke or use sarcasm."
Serenity chuckled, it was nice to converse with her younger sister like this.
It had been too long.
"I've missed you Maeralya, how is the human realm treating you?"
Martha had been living with the humans for over fifty years, she would on occasion pass through the gateway to visit her own people but it wasn't a journey one should take too often as it required a great deal of power and preparation.
"It's not perfect, same can be said for humanity but you know yourself that no realm is.....we all have our faults."
"Very true words Maeralya, there's good and bad. I'm sad to say the darkness here is growing, it is yet to show itself but I feel it......it's coming and sooner than either of us expected. I know you requested more time with Y/N, I was happy to give you that at first but now the darkness is moving closer our situation is much more urgent. I convinced the king to make his annual trip through the gateway earlier than usual, I'm sorry to only tell you this now."
Martha furrowed her brow, how much time had Serenity left her with? There was still so much to show Y/N, this was moving far too quickly and wouldn't end well. "When will he be making the journey?" Martha questioned.
"I'm sorry I couldn't give you more time."
"Serenity stop stalling and tell me when the king will be making his journey."
Serenity took a deep breath, sending her younger sister an apologetic smile.
"Tomorrow."
Martha's eyes widened, did she hear that right?
Tomorrow?!
"Serenity you can't expect me to prepare the poor girl for a gateway crossing in one day?! I had a plan, today I was going to show her the paintings and slowly get her accustomed to our realm but it didn't go as planned. The mirror, the saroir called to her. It called to the prince too, they've seen each other and she wasn't too happy about my reluctance to explain myself or what had happened. The poor girl is confused, afraid and angry with me."
"You said the saroir called to her? If that's true then her connection with Taehyung is far more powerful than either one of us expected, not even my visions have showed me this."
Martha nodded, watching her sister deep in thought.
"Serenity it takes our kind months of training before we're able to use the gateway, to expect a human to do this in one day is asking for the impossible....we don't even know if she's worthy to pass through."
Serenity mulled over her sister's words, she understood the concerns for Y/N's safety but they simply didn't have the time to properly train her.
"I wish I could give you more time Maeralya but we simply don't have it to spare, we just have to trust that she's the one."
There was a sudden commotion behind Serenity as the door to her quarters flew open and a confused Taehyung stood at the threshold
"She's real Serenity, the girl from my dreams."
The mirror misted over, muting the rest of the conversation.
Martha stood there staring back at the spot where her sister had just been, what the hell did Taehyung just say? The girl from his dreams?
What the hell was Serenity keeping from her.
