Enveloped in darkness, Whitedrizzle looked up. She sent a silent prayer to StarClan, closing her eyes. Their warrior ancestors had shown no sign that they were still watching over them. In the silverpelt, the stars were shining bright and Whitedrizzle could only hope that StarClan was there and not other ancestors of the strange tribe that the chosen cats kept talking about.
She slowly curled up, closing her eyes, on the bedding. She felt like sleep would be far away but as she closed her eyes she rapidly drifted up to sleep.
A dim light shown through the branches as Whitedrizzle got up, it felt ages since she had closed her eyes yet, when she looked up, her eyes felt heavy and her limbs ached. The sun had mysteriously disappeared from the horizon, leaving an intriguing darkness. The only audible noise was the rush of water and Whitedrizzle blinked a few times, trying to get used to the darkness.
She determinedly stepped in front, looking forward, but she step back quickly as she unexpectedly felt water underneath her paws. Marshes were all around her, but in the darkness whitedrizzle could only feel. She stepped in front again, shutting her eyes tight. She did it once more and more and more until she found herself walking normally in these marshes as if she had lived around them forever.
She continued walking, when she felt absorbed in water. She had fallen in a lake! She wiggled around, forcing herself to keep her head out of water. It seemed as if blackness had engulfed her in a worst way, leaving her only two choices: dying or surviving.
Whitedrizzle somehow felt challenged by StarClan and popped her head out of the water, tiredly looking around, hoping darkness would somehow lead her. Then she felt her flank brushing the earth. Relieved, she unsheathed her claws, sinking them in the earth and got up, smiling.
She felt once again absorbed in darkness, but found herself in the usual warrior's den to the sound of the clan's murmurings. For a heartbeat, Whitedrizzle felt as if she had woken up again in the den at her old camp but looking outside and seeing a big hollow she shook her thoughts away and stepped out of the warrior's den, busy cats were walking around, the dawn patrol was leaving and apprentices were running to the elders den, mouse bile making their nuzzle twitch.
A purr rumbled from her throat. The clan was once again together!
But whitedrizzle felt as if there was more to be discovered and left the camp. This place was new to her and, being the adventurous cat she always was, Whitedrizzle looked at every bit of earth, memorizing the territory. She felt the wind blow on her pelt and closed her eyes, breathing the unnatural scent.
"What are you doing here?" A voice interrupted her thoughts and Whitedrizzle opened her eyes, disturbed by the thought of being once again in the marshes as she had in the beginning of her dream and turned around to face three loners. After a long heartbeat she realized that she couldn't answer this question "I don't know" she simply said, dipping her head. In my dream, she added to herself unwilling to let these cats know, maybe they wouldn't understand her.
The three loners stared at each other and Whitedrizzle waited, terrified by the thought of three loners attacking a warrior. Of course Whitedrizzle could beat them but she was outnumbered and then the battle would be to a terrible cost.
A cream colored she cat frowned and nodded, walking away. Whitedrizzle relaxed, if one had gone that easily, the two others weren't going to be of a big problem. The two loners stared unblinkingly at the spot where the she cat had left, Whitedrizzle was conscious of their every move. The two loners nodded as if their glances were enough to exchanged unspoken words.
They ran towards the cream colored she cat "if you put one more paw in this place, we will thread you to peaces!" One of them yelled, throwing his last words behind his shoulder.
And Whitedrizzle felt obscured in darkness again, and, when she was back to normal she simply saw a pool shining brightly with the moonlight. It was like the Moonstone and Whitedrizzle expected they would share dreams with StarClan here. She went to it and look down her pelt bristling with curiosity, even if it was all a dream, she felt as if it was real : StarClan was there! And they were huddled together all except one, a beautiful tortoiseshell she cat was looking at her and smiling. Whitedrizzle tilted her head on one side.
Yes, this was the place they were going, this was the place they were going to live in and it was worth the time it took to get there or the effort or smokepaw's death...
Whitedrizzle stared at the StarClan cats as she thought, until they all vanished beneath her eyes. But Whitedrizzle wasn't surprised, she knew StarClan had shown her everything the intended to. The whole world around her slowly vanished, and Whitedrizzle's eyes opened and she knew it was the end of her dream when she saw the mountains were once again over her and she could see clearly the sunshine, she couldn't wait to tell the others about the dream...
