The moment I met you

***

Harry's POV:

It's a Saturday night and I find myself surrounded by alcohol-crazed teenagers. I tend to avoid situations like these for the sake of my own dignity, yet here I am. Standing in a crowded living room, wrapping a dirty blanket around my best friend and leading him to the restroom. Time to make an executive decision here.

"Zayn that's enough for one night, we shouldn't have come to this ridiculous party in the first place."

I wait for his usual snarky comment but am surprised when all I get in response is an extra weight on my shoulder as his body goes completely limp.

Why am I friends with this guy again?

A groan escapes my throat as I drop him to the ground and continue towards the herpes dungeon they call a bathroom.

I hope he feels this tomorrow, for his sake and mine.

The halls twist together like a maze as I navigate through the dim lights. I'm surprised as my legs give out from beneath me and I stumble to the ground.

I'm not the drunk one, am I? Nope, just another passed out individual surrounded by empty beer bottles. Kind of depressing if you ask me... Wait... this works perfectly!

I regain my composure and grab one of the empty bottles, making my way to the bathroom sink I was heading to before.

Rinsing it would be the logical thing to do but it's not like he doesn't smell like piss and booze already. Wouldn't make much of a difference.

I fill the bottle up with water, small remnants of beer form a yellowish hue as it mixes with the liquid. Do I care? No. Like I said, shouldn't make much of a difference.

The journey back is much easier than before as I come across his unconscious body again.

"Wake up dumbass" I groan as I pour the water on his face.

His eyes shoot open, scanning the hallways in confusion.

"Hello?"

"Goodmorning asshole, time to go home."

10:30 PM

I'm now sitting in the back of an Uber with Zayn passed out in my lap. If anybody saw us right now they'd assume we were something more than we are; friends with benefits at least. However, despite Zayn's impecable style and gorgeous looks, the only gay one in this friendship is me.

Zayn's been my only real friend for the past six years. He's also the only one who stuck by me throughout my entire coming out.

He's a great lad, but as you've probably already gathered, I don't get out much. Which probably explains why Zay forced me to this horrible party in the first place.

As if a hundred adrenaline pumped, horny college students would change my mind on human interaction.

I snap out of my thoughts as soon as the Uber river pulls over, back to being the responsible one again. I thank the driver and drag Zayn out of the back seat, slinging his arm over my shoulder before realizing I have no idea where we are.

I check the app again, cursing under my breath for letting the driver get away before even knowing where I was. It seems that in my rush to call an Uber for my best friend, I selected a location three blocks down from my apartment.

Guess I have myself a bit of a hike tonight. I mentally prepare myself to ruin my back carrying Zayn's almost limp body when I hear a small voice interrupt my thoughts.

"Hey, do you need any help?"

I spin my head around frantically searching for the source of such a smooth, soft voice.

Am I hallucinating right now? I swear if Zayn snuck some shit into my drink I'll-

"I'm over here" The stranger giggles.

I finally make out the silhouette of a petite young man, he seems to be quite a bit shorter than me and is holding the door open to what looks like a small coffee shop. He must've been taking out the trash since his other hand is holding a rather heavy looking trash bin.

"Oh! Don't worry about it, I just put the wrong address for my Uber. I gotta get my friend back home, he's pretty intoxicated."

Is my voice always this shaky? why do I sound so nervous? Great, this guy probably thinks I'm a sex trafficker now.

"Well I was just closing up but if you want to come in and warm up a bit while I clean you're more than welcome. I'm sure some warm tea and bread could help you guys out."

It would be smart to get some food in his stomach. Maybe he'll regain some of his consciousness so I won't have to carry as much weight.

"Sure, if it isn't a bother. Tea sounds amazing right now."

I watch as he places the trash can down and quickly makes his way towards me, supporting Zayn's other side. As we work to move him closer to the door I can finally make out more of the man's facial features.

"What's your name?" I ask, surprised by my sudden burst of confidence.

Our eyes finally meet and it's like the whole universe is staring back at me.

"Louis. Louis Tomlinson."
