alright let's get it

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

"everyday is a new beginning, make it count!"

ayesha smiled contently at her reflection. the transition from childhood to adulthood was truly fascinating, in such a short amount of time you go through so many different changes and learn how to adapt to different situations.

today, ayesha was going to a job interview to become a flight attendant, something she has always wanted to be since a young girl. she knew all she needed to know, everything she needed to say, she was confident, a trait lots of people lack in situations similar to this one.

"becca! i'm leaving out now!" ayesha shouts throughout her shared apartment.

"okay!" her roommate calls back.

she grabs her keys off the key hanger by the door and leaves the apartment with a peaceful state of mind.

**********

ayesha got home a bit later that evening, after a successful interview and her brother taking her out to celebrate, there was a permanent smile plastered on her face.

ayesha was alone when she entered the apartment, rebecca was a security guard who worked a night shift, so this wasn't anything new.

"hello?"

"ma! i got the job!" ayesha says excitedly into the phone receiver.

"i knew you'd get it baby! i'm so proud of you, how 'bout you swing by tomorrow and i treat us to brunch?"

"that sounds lovely mother." ayesha giggles "but that's all i wanted to say, i have to get up early tomorrow so i'm gonna hit the sack."

"okay sweetheart, i'll see you tomorrow, love you!"

"love you too mommy dearest, bye." ayesha laughs lightly before hanging up the phone. she looks at the time.

7:49

with a sigh, ayesha trudges her way to her room, takes a quick shower and gets dressed in to night wear.

while doing her nighttime facial routine, the sound of multiple sirens and vehicles speeding down the street is heard.

she frowns and walk towards the window, peeking out.

"another high speed chase? these people never get enough." she mutters, not thinking much of it and getting relaxed on her bed.

with a press of a button, she decides to turn on the news.

and what she sees makes her eyes nearly pop out of the sockets.

"th-there are these-these things! disgusting people things! running around an-and eating other people! no one knows what th- oh shit! no! GO GO! RUN!"

ayesha was on the verge of tears, as she shut down the T.V.

"is this some sick prank?" she spats in disgust before she hears a scream outside.

she hops off her bed and dashes towards her window.

"holy shit.." she whispers.

everything happened so rapidly, just 10 minutes ago the streets were calm but time waits for no one.

cars were going at least 100 miles per hour down the side street, people, adults children, were running up and down the side walk.

away from those things.

she hasn't been able to see one quite clearly yet but from the distance of her apartment to the street, the creatures were most definitely.... humans

were

they were pretty fast but it seemed as their perception was a bit ....off.

they looked like walking corpses.

and that's exactly what they were.

ayesha closed her eyes in hopes to when she opened them again this will all be gone.

5....4....3....2.....1

she opened her eyes and yeah....this is real.

snapping back to reality, ayesha grabbed her phone to call her mother.

the ringing seemed endless and the anxiety in ayesha's chest only expanded.

"c'mon c'mon answer mom." she muttered, putting jogging pants on her pants-less legs and sliding on some tennis shoes.

"AYESHA! BABY?!"

"mom! mom i'm coming, i'm on the way i'll be there in 5 minutes-."

"no! don't come here ayesha! stay in the house!" her mom interrupts frantically.

"why not? i'm on the way i need to know you're safe-."

"ayesha, please honey, stay put. it's not safe over-oh fuck!"

"mom? what's wrong? what's happening?" ayesha was on the verge of tears at the sound of fear raising in her mother's voice.

"go to your fathers house! i should be there by the time you arrive, just go as soon as possible honey, i have to go! i love you!" the line then went dead.

ayesha grabbed her workout bag, grabbing a few necessities, clothes, soaps, tissue, stuff of that matter, her taser and a kitchen knife.

she grabbed her keys and shut her eyes taking a deep breath, mentally preparing for what was approaching.

she looked around her apartment, this possibly being the last time ever even seeing it, and left the comforts of her home.

what she saw was literal hell on earth.
