What a dumb. Sighing relieved as she stepped into the plaza leading to - what they called the 'great' city of the Commonwealth, the 'Jewel' she looked around. Quite the - overstatement. It was a fucking mess. But well, everything was these days.
First it was her own - situation. Locked up in cryo sleep for fucking how long? She didn't know. Then waking up to see Shaun getting kidnapped and Nate - shit. Clenching her fists she took deep breaths to calm herself. Well, crying wasn't gonna solve this.
Now she was here. And she was gonna find the bastards. They would pay. In blood. Fine. But where to start? Back on the road she had run into these guys from the Minuteman. Ha, Minuteman! What was that all about? But they had given her some good advice to come here - or at least Mama Murphy - the old crack grandma had told you so. She had seen you in a vision. Wonderful. Now she was taking advice from lunes. Great. Suddenly she heard an angry female voice yelling on the other side of the plaza. What the fuck was that all about? She stepped closer to the huge doors of the - football stadium? What the hell?
Curious she wanted to hear what the woman in the red leather Trenchcoat was arguing about but at that moment her voice trailed over to her well loud enough.
"Open this gate, right now!"
Frowning she walked closer to hear the response coming from the little intercom.
"I'm sorry, but Mayor McDonough's really steamed, Piper. Sayin' that article you wrote was all lies. The whole city's in a tizzy."
The black haired woman with the black press cap, Piper obsviously, frowned frustrated and rolled her eyes in obvious annoyance. Smirking amused Nora halted a few metres back, arms crossed.
"Agh... You open this gate right now, Danny Sullivan! I live here. You can't just lock me out!"
She glared at the intercom.
"I got orders not to let you in, Ms. Piper. I'm sorry. I'm just doing my job."
"Just doing your job? Protecting Diamond City means keeping me out, is that it? 'Oh look, it's the scary reporter!' Boo!"
Gesturing wildly she made a face at the intercom causing Nora to chuckle silently.
"Damn it, Danny, open up!" "
I know you're listening, Danny! Open the gate."
Sighing in frustration Piper turned around and spotted Nora standing a few metres back. Her eyes widened and she hurried over to her.
"You. You want into Diamond City, right?", she asked in a quiet voice her hazel brown eyes gleaming with mischief. Nora nodded.
"Yeah."
Piper cracked a smile and signaled her to come closer to the intercom.
"Shh. Play along. What was that? You said you're a trader up from Quincy? You have enough supplies to keep the general store stocked for a whole month?"
She smirked and looked back at you.
"You hear that, Danny? You gonna open the gate and let us in? Or are you going to be the one talking to crazy Myrna about losing out on all this supply?"
"Geez, all right. No need to make it personal, Piper. Give me a minute.", came the resignated male voice from the intercom. Pipers eyes gleamed and she chuckled amused throwing a glance at Nora.
"Better head inside quick before ole' Danny catches on to the bluff."
Nora nodded.
"Sounds good. Let's go." The huge doors slowly opened as they walked in their direction. Wow. How everything had changed. This was once a football stadium. Now it was a city? Crazy. Throwing a side glance at Piper she frowned slightly.
