I was lying still on the moist grass in our backyard after reading Augustus's letter. I could still hear his sweet voice echoing in my ears giving me hope. Augustus Waters was more than a boyfriend to me. As he said, he left his scar. He left me changed. He left that deep and painful scar that taught me the meaning of unconditional love.

The smell of the wet grass reminded me of him. Reminded me of our metaphoric picnic. Everything actually did. Everything reminded me of him. I thought of myself. Throwing some damn dust right on his coffin. Right on him. This thought made me feel nauseous. I allowed myself to cry. And hugged his letter tight to my heart.
