There were a few messages left from her friends that called for attention.
"Hey Stacy, this is Maria. We are at the Italian restaurant. Wish you could have made it. I got your message that you might not make it and were going to meet us at the hotel. I ordered your favorite waiting for you to eat when you get there. Miss you, see you at the hotel."
The second message was more of a surprise blessing because it gave a clearer time of when Stacy was missing.
"Hey, this is Tiffany. The girls and I were wondering where you were. We are at the motel and it is late. If you aren't here by the morning, we are going to have to take off and figure that you changed your mind. I hope not Stace. Your mom had paid for our room, so I hope that was ok to leave it like that, since it wasn't cancelled. I hope you are fine and didn't get stuck in the storm. We just barely escaped it because we still got eight inches of snow in Portland. One of the worst storms the news said. We would all love to experience this with you. There are a whole bunch of boys to see and meet. That should get you to come. Anyway, call me. I need to hear from you. Love you."
Kyle gritted his teeth then looked at the time of the message. It around nine o'clock at night and they hadn't heard from her for about five hours. Where could she have gone, Kyle wondered.
But out of all the messages the best ones were from Jake. He had never been prouder than he had listening to his messages. Jake started off funny and encouraging in the beginning messages, even though there were things Jake said about Anna that made Kyle worried for him. A missed message in return from Stacy showed up later, just two days after Jake's message. Her message was sent on the day she left for her trip. Kyle didn't care for what his daughter said about Anna either. They both described Anna as a bit crazy and sadistic. Kyle wondered how dangerous of a situation was it to have Jake lead Anna back home.
He loved that Jake was honest with his sister. The concern Jake had in his voice for Stacy to return his messages tore Kyle up inside. But it was the last messages that hit Kyle the hardest. He heard his son beg for his sister to hang on until he got to her. Tears spoke through Jake as he asked her to stay awake and keep praying. No matter it be spirit or soul, he and dad will find her."
Kyle put his head on his arm that rested on the top of the steering wheel and cried quietly to his heart. After a minute or so, Kyle sat in his truck with his head on his hands trying to hold it together. There was no way he was giving up hope of finding her alive, Kyle said over and over so he could hear what he believed. A call interrupted his thoughts. On the second ring, Kyle picked up the phone to Chief William's call with sand sitting on the bottom of his stomach. He didn't say a word, but Chief didn't wait.
"Kyle, they found Stacy." A silence filled his truck so thick he didn't have room to breathe. Chief Williams waited for the news to sink in.
"Where is she?" Kyle asked though it took everything in him to do so.
"In the mountains. The helicopter found her. I'll send you the coordinates." Chief said to his friend then hung up.
Kyle waited to call Alicia. He wanted to see Stacy for himself and tell Alicia in person.
The team showed up and everyone was somber. Nobody knew how to act, so they were attentive to the investigation. Kyle went up to Officer Tate and coincided procedure with instructions, and what Kyle had done so far. Kyle handed him Stacy's phone with her charger and told him to give it to Freddy and Karla to examine.
"They found Stacy in the mountains, so I am heading to see her now."
"Oh Kyle, I am so sorry. I'll let you know immediately what we find." Officer Tate said.
