"Here goes nothing..."
Several minutes later you were nervously gazing at the police station before you. You felt that little courage vanishing away. After getting into the station, you spotted the cop duo in a short distance and walked over to them.
"Hi, guys..." You awkwardly greeted.
"Good to see you again, Miss (L/N)." Connor politely said. "I thought we wouldn't meet again after yesterday."
Hank shook his head in confusion. "Wait a minute, what happened yesterday?"
"Connor came to see me yesterday to give me back the umbrella i lent him, if is that what you're wondering." You explained.
"Okay..." Hank suspiciously nodded. " I hope you've got a good reason to be here, 'cause we're leaving in a few minutes."
"I, um... I wanted to talk to you, Uncle Hank..." You shivered when Hank folded his arms, with his natural grumpy expression asserting his dominance. You couldn't do it. Something inside your head said he'd say no. This wasn't a good moment. " Actually... I was just going to say that DUAT suspended classes indefinitely on Cyberlife orders."
"And do you know why?" Hank questioned.
"Uh, the e-mail said that Cyberlife don't want any android-related disregard to happen so it was better to suspend the classes." You explained.
"Cyberlife really does care 'bout their reputation, huh?" Hank scoffed.
"It also means that graduation will be postponed until this deviants case is fully resolved." You said, then you murmured. "And maybe i could help..."
"That's just fuckin' great... Another headache..."
"This is no big deal, after all." You said. "That just means i have plenty of time to do... nothing, i guess."
"What about your job?"
"You know i just work for three days a week." You reasoned, maybe that's a new opportunity to say how you feel. "And my salary is not even decent..."
"Where are you trying to get, (Y/N)?"
"Uncle Hank, i--"
"Lieutenant, we're ready to go!" You all heard a cop inform.
"Sorry (Y/N), but we gotta go." Hank gestured to Connor to follow him.
"Wait, where are you going?" You questioned, yet bewildered with the fact that he's about to leave right now.
"To Stratford Tower..." Hank said. "Some mad shit happened in there..."
"Oh... Right... The deviant... Good luck, then."
(Y/N), you're such an idiot...
You cursed your weakness, your fear. In your head, you wanted to do what you really loved, but this is the real world and you felt like a caged little bird. The opportunities won't come to you that easily, you convinced yourself. This is how life works... But you've got to try.
"Uncle Hank, wait!" You called, both Connor and your godfather turned around. You hurried your steps to talk to them. "Um, can i borrow Robocop for a minute? I need to talk to him."
Hank furrowed his brows. "Since when did you two become buddies?"
"What? We're not."
"Whatever... Just don't take too long."
You dragged the android so some corner so Hank couldn't hear you. "I messed up again."
"How can i help?" Connor tilted his head.
"What you said to me last night really encouraged me." You started. "I was confident at first, but... Now i'm just scared he might say no and get mad at me, due to the massive amount of times i asked him the same damn question."
"He really seems hesitant about this subject..." Connor said, a bit curious about Hank's behavior. "Is there any reasons for him to act like this?"
"I, i don't know... He knows i really love being a cop, but it's better for me to be something else. That was the closest reason i got from him once."
"Anything else...?" Connor asked, as if you were giving a statement to some kind of investigation, which was a bit of ironic.
"One observation I made was that Hank got more... strict... about that, after Cole's death..." You commented. "I don't know why, maybe his grief did that." Then you sighed, giving up your thoughts. "You know what?... Just forget it. All right?.. It won't do me any good to stay here, anyway."
Connor looked at his superior in the distance, and patiently looked back at you. "I understand... Now if you excuse me, i need to go."
"Alright... Thanks, by the way."
Connor finally left the police station, getting in the car with Hank. You waved goodbye at them, Connor imitated your gesture just like the first time, Hank just rolled his eyes to Connor's goofiness. The android won't forget his instructions, there's a long way to go now. But for a machine, he got a very compassionate idea.
