"Probably... But that's not the worst part. " You said. "There was a night when Uncle Hank and i received a report of a robbery taking a group of people hostage in a grocery store... When we got there the robber started running, so i went after them. I managed to corner them in an alley, and it was raining a lot that night. When pole light hit the robber's face... It was her. It was an android, the same fucking model my dad broke apart years ago... We were both armed, but..." Your voice trembled with the memories. "I couldn't shoot her... I just couldn't... I knew it wasn't really her, just a copy... but i couldn't." A tear was sliding down your cheek quietly, but you dried it out quickly. "She was scared... and so was i. When she heard Hank's voice... she shot me in fear." You raised part of your shirt, showing Connor the bullet scar on your belly. "I could've died that night, Robocop. Because of my cowardliness."

"What happened next?" Connor was really attentive to your words. Somehow he believes that you shouldn't have experienced anything like that. For such a jovial person, you don't deserve this trauma.

"I can't remember, i was unconscious." You simply said. "But the next day I went to work after being discharged from the hospital, Captain Fowler said we needed to talk. Basically he said i was reckless by not shooting the android... and it was only my first year as a police officer. He said that it was better for me to work on something else, 'cause investigating didn't suit me. For my sake, Fowler offered me a DUAT application form so i could get it together with my life... I passed... But he said there would always be a spot for me if i ever wanted to come back."

"And... did Lieutenant approve it?" Connor asked.

"What do you think?" You raised your eyebrow, but not so ironically this time. "Of course he did... Actually, he's one who keep telling me to focus on graduating."

"And what do you plan to do after you graduate?"

You opened your mouth to give him an answer, but nothing came out. You never stopped to ask yourself what are you going to do after graduation. Maybe you'll stay at Cozy Bear? Maybe you'll find a better profession? It was unpredictable. "I... i don't know... I think i was so focused on studying that i never stopped to think about what i wanted to do."

"I thought you liked studying at DUAT." Connor commented.

"Well, yeah, but the point is..." You sighed, trying to be sincere about your thoughts. "I... I still want to work as Uncle Hank's partner. I really liked my job, you know...? It was my dream since i was a kid!"

"Is he aware of this?"

"And do you think I didn't try to tell him? Well, at least not the last part..." You shook your head. "He'll never let me join the police ever again... I fuckep up."

Connor chose to be logical with you. " Your mistake was not accomplishing your mission. You should've put your feelings aside and do as you're told..." You were staring at each other, and Connor noticed the dissatisfaction in his words. That wasn't what you needed to hear, was it? Maybe he could be more... friendly. "But if i may say... I think you did nothing wrong. You were scared, and that's all... Getting shot wasn't your fault either. The thing I don't understand is why weren't they more understanding of your situation that night? Because... you seem to be very skilled person and... you would make a great cop."

You snorted with laughter, looking away for a  second, then back at the android. "Are you telling me the truth or you're just trying to please me?"

Connor had the opportunity to lie about that, but chose to be honest. "I don't have any plausible reasons to lie to you, Miss (L/N). That was just... common sense. It is normal for a cop to get hurt on field... But maybe that's just your point of view. Maybe if you try to reason with Lieutenant Anderson properly he will understand how you feel."
