~Jack~
3:40 pm, and Jack was at home getting ready for Peppers arrival. After about five minutes he couldn’t find anything else to do, so he turned on Zelda.
“Hey Jack” Pepper said behind him. How did he not hear her come in?
“Pepper?”
“Sorry, your mom let me in, I should’ve knocked.” Why did she have to be so adorable?
“No, its okay I was just going to play-“
“Zelda the Windwaker, I’ll play with you” Jack almost dropped the controller.
“Okay, here” she took the controller and sat down next to him, Jack could feel her brush up agents him
“I hope you’re good.” Pepper smiled “Because I’m amazing”
She was amazing. Within an hour they had beat the game and were down stairs in the living room. “Maybe we should’ve done this sooner.” Jack said taking a bite of one of his mom’s freshly baked cookies.
“Maybe you would’ve beaten the game sooner if we had.” Pepper giggled, she actually giggled.
“Maybe…” Jack took a calming breath “So, what do you want to do?” Jack cursed himself why did he have to be so awkward?
She smiled “Well this was how you prove to me we’re alike…” It was then that Jack had an idea
“Follow me” He grabbed Peppers hand and took her back upstairs to the game room. “Quiz me for yourself” Jack took out the box of trivial pursuit games his family had collected over the years.
“Wow” she glanced up at Jack in shock “that’s a lot of trivial pursuit”
“You pick the subject, I know them all!” He couldn’t help but brag, he was very good at these games
“Hmm some ones getting cocky” she half smiled, it was Jacks move and he was surprised to see it on someone else.
“If I win you have to go out with me, for real”
“And if I win?” she countered
“You get to go out with Jack Hendrix?” He was trying to be sly even though he knew it wouldn’t work on someone like Pepper.
“Okay” he could’ve swore he had died. “You go first” she had chosen the Last Resort, of course.
“Who is the actor who played Clinton Roberts?”
“Maxton White” Pepper responded immediately. “When Alex discovered the treasure in the third season what color was the chest?”
“You’re kidding?” Jack asked
“Answer the question” Pepper smiled, that was worth it
“Was it silver?” She nodded almost surprised “When did Mark Shepherded first appear in the series?”
“The second season, about half way through” Pepper responded confidently.
“Nope-“Jack didn’t have time to finish his statement before Pepper had almost fallen over him trying to see the card. “He appeared on the fifteenth episode of the first season.” Before he knew it his arms were around Peppers waist and she was blushing feverishly.
“Next” she whispered barely loud enough for him to hear.
Mrs. Hendrex came in “Pepper your mom-“and then she saw what was going on and laughed. “Your mom’s here honey” she finally said after they had sat up and away from each other.
“You won,” Pepper said picking up some of the cards that had been knocked over “So I’m going out with Jack Hendrex, this is one of those things that girls brag about isn’t it?” Jack couldn’t help but laugh
“Yeah it is, but then you aren’t most girls are you?” she smiled and shook her head
“I guess not.” They got up and walked downstairs where Peppers mom was waiting to take her home. “Hey mom”
“How are you, are you feeling?” she rolled her eyes
“I’m fine mom, are we going home?” Peppers mom nodded
“Thanks for having her Anita” she said
“Any time, I’ve got a feeling they’ll be spending a lot more time together after tonight.” Mrs. Hendrex looked at Pepper and Jack had to nudge her.
“We should go, thanks again for having me!” Pepper said walking outside quickly.
“Pepper,” Jack ran after her “About school tomorrow” she stopped “I can tell everyone we’re together and they won’t pick on you anymore” She smiled and got into the car
“But we aren’t together, we’re just really good friends”
“So it would be wrong if I kissed you goodnight?” Pepper grabbed the car door
“Yes it would be” she said, and closed it.
