A couple weeks went by and school was pretty good. This girl Kylie joined our group. But something was off about her. She was always giving me stink eye and purposely cutting me out. I made friends with this other girl, Minnie. She seemed nice but Mara didn't like her. Well too bad. I don't like Kylie either.
After fall break I came back to school and people looked at me then whispered to their friends. What was that about? I walked into homeroom and sat by Mara but she sees distant too. Like irritated at me. Ms. Fallen came in with a girl. Wait I know that girl. No! Not the betrayer! It was Tiana. Ms. Fallen sat her right next to me. I look at her. All those years thrown away because of a stupid act she thought was funny. Mara smiled at Tiana and talked to her. What the fuck!? I told her about the texts! I even showed her them! And now she's being nice!? What did I miss?
Tiana smiled at me but I can see it was fake. "Hey Melanie!"
I glanced at her "Hi Tiana" I said uninterested. Mara hit me
"Stop being rude" she whispered. I was so ready to slap Mara. Maybe if she knew how I felt she wouldn't be the inconsiderate one. But fine if Tiana wants to fake then so can I.
I took a deep breath then turned around with a big smiled plastered on my face. I took theater as an elective, I can act. "Oh my gosh I missed you!" I went and hugged her.
Oh the expression on Tiana's face was priceless. I wished I had a camera on me. She hugged me back and we began talking.
********************************
A couple months later I begun to loose everything. Mara stopped talking to me because Kylie didn't like me. The whole honors class stopped talking to me because the whole honors class was friends with Kylie. Why did that girl hate me so much???
I befriended Minnie and we had a lot in common. But she was a sad girl. I can relate because I was becoming sad too. Tiana was my friend again or so I thought but ugh I'm getting ahead of myself.
I was in class one morning and Lana was talking about her party. But I wasn't invited. I didn't mind because she probably could only invite a few friends. But I soon found out she invited everyone in our honors class but me. That bitch. Fine. After class I grabbed my lunch box from my locker and walked to the cafe. I sat with Mara like usual and she looked at me. I smiled and she got up.
"Hey Mel can I talk to you?"
I looked at her confused "yeah sure....." I got up and followed her to a secluded part of campus.
"What's up?" I asked her
"I... We don't think you should hang out with us any more...."
I looked at her shocked. Did she just say what I thought she said? Was she ditching me? After 7 years of friendship was she throwing me away like some piece of trash? She, Minnie, and Tiana has become my only friends. Everyone's ditched me. Why? I dont know.
"Mel?" Mara asked snapping me out of my head.
I backed away "don't call me that! I thought we were best friends but I guess I was wrong...."
"I thought so too but Kylie has been telling us that—"
I cut her off "oh I see! Kylie is a perfect goddess so all she says is true. You know what fuck all of you!" I grabbed my bag and ran. I was need someone who could understand. Minnie was with her boyfriend so I couldn't possibly go hang out with her. She wanted some time with just him, that I could understand. So I ran to the only other person that could still possibly be my friend, Tiana. I went to her table and smiled at her. "Hey can I sit with you?"
All three of her friends stared at me. I got a feeling of hostility here. Did I do something wrong?
Tiana gave them a look then smiled back at me "Sure"
Serena looked at me "what happened with you and your friends?"
I not my lip "they ditched me...."
Tiana, Serena, Jennifer, and Maria did a three way glance.
"We need to have a conference really fast" Jennifer said and all four them walked away and talked for a bit.
I sighed looking at my food waiting for them. They were gonna ditch me too, right?
A few minutes later they came back and Tiana smiled "you can sit with us for a bit"
I smiled gratefully "Thank you so much" I looked at her friends and they all smiled at me but that feeling of hostility never left that table until I got up and left.....
