[ Present Day ]

BEEP BEEP BEEP

SMASH!

"Oops." I look to my bedside and see the pieces of what used to be my alarm clock. Sometimes I don't know my own strength.

I sigh. Today's the day.. Time to enter hell and suffer through the mind-rattling questions and boredom-bringing lectures. And worst of all.. public interaction. I hated talking to new people but when it's an old friend or something of the sort, I'm comfortable. It depends if they're nice or not as well but STILL THOUGH, talking to new people is the hardest thing for me.

I shiver slightly at the many failed attempts at first impressions as they started appearing into my mind. I checked the time on my phone since my alarm clock had been obliterated by my hand.

6:24 AM

My eyes widened and I dashed quickly out of bed and took a quick shower and got dressed in dark blue high waisted jeans and a vintage shirt that I found in my basement and tied my [Favorite Color] jacket around my waist. I placed my socks on and put on my boots.

Before I left, I looked at the picture of my mother and I, and smiled bitter-sweetly. I kissed my fingers and place it on my mothers lips.

I'll make you proud mama..

I hurried to the kitchen and opened the fridge. I took out the juice box and chugged it. I know, it's gross but who else will drink it? I live alone anyway.

Once I was finished I got the dog food and poured it into Orion's bowl.

"Orion! I'm heading to school there's food in your bowl!" As I finished that sentence, a huge black and white Siberian Husky tackled me.

"Oof- Orion, I need.. to go.." I said, trying to breath as I try to break free from his hold. Jeez, we need to go on a walk soon. He is the last thing I have from my mother. You should've seen the surprise on my face when I enter the house and saw a small puppy chewing on the leg of a chair.

He whimpered at this but backed off. "Don't worry, boy. We'll have lots of time together later, okay? And make sure to assault anything that seems like a threat."

He barked happily as if saying 'Of course'. I smiled and pet him gently on the head. I got my backpack and hurried to the front door. I said goodbye to him and ran towards the bus station. I passed by Ms. Laura's house. She was sitting in her front porch, a sweet smile plastered on her face.

"Hey there, sweet cheeks. Where ya off to?" I slow down a bit and looked at her.

"School! I have to hurry, I woke up late. I'll talk to you when I get back!" I start speeding up again and I could hear small bits of laughter in the distance. Ms. Laura is one of those people where you can't help but smile when they're around. Ever since I arrived, she's been nothing but sweet and she's helped me through hard times.

I checked the time again on my phone again.

6:49 AM

I arrived at the bus station just in time, the doors were just about to close but then I called out to the bus driver.

"Wait!" The bus driver looked at me tiredly then mumbled something under his breath and opened the doors up again. I thanked him and took one the vacant seats at the back.
