Swim
By J. Lynne Moore
(07/18/2019)

A pallet, black and white,
Paints a face, contrite.
Stark with a hint of remorse,
Redemption, the only course.

Awakened by sorrow's sweet kiss,
Treading, desperate, within the abyss.
Searching for a reason to float,
Regret stuck in the throat.

Hope, the spark, still lingers,
Just on the tip of the fingers.
A mouth, mute, cries out...
Treading the ocean of doubt.

Sanity wavers on the horizon,
As passion is left to wizen.
Hurry now the hour is grim,
Hold your breath...and swim!
