"Are we there yet?" Fan asked.

"You've been asking me that every five minutes. No, we're not there yet. Now, shuuut uuup!" the principal, MePhone4, whined.

Currently, every student and staff member from the relatively small high school was crammed into a bus, heading to a trip to their rival school for some district-wide assembly.

They didn't know what the assembly was about, or why the other school was involved, but they did know one thing:

This bus was hot and it smelled like ass.

"This bus is hot and it smells like ass," Paintbrush complained.

"Oh, cheer up, Painty!" Lightbulb said, nudging her friend. "Look!" She reached into the pocket of her coat and pulled out her pet crab, Baxter.

"Wh- Lightbulb, I-- Why's he here?" Paintbrush sputtered out, perplexed.

"I thought he would like it! But we gotta hide him during the assembly," Lightbulb replied.

"Uh, duh, yeah we have to hide him during the assembly! The kids from the other school are going to think we're insane!" Paintbrush wildly threw their hands around, not being able to explain in words why this was such a bad idea.

"If anything," Lightbulb smiled, "they'll think we're really cool."

"NO THEY WO--"

Paintbrush was cut off by Fan and Test Tube turning around from in front to look at them.

"What's Paintbrush getting fired up about this time?" Fan asked, smirking.

"None of your goddamn business, Fan!" Paintbrush exclaimed as Lightbulb quickly shoved Baxter into the hood of Paintbrush's sweatshirt to conceal him. They didn't notice, too caught up in bickering with Fan. Test Tube noticed, but she couldn't make out what it was. Lightbulb caught her eye and winked while 'shhh'-ing her Test Tube reluctantly turned back into her seat. Fan followed.

In the far back of the bus sat Baseball, who was brooding and looking out of the window. He had been left friendless as his best and only friend, Nickel, had transferred over to the rival school. Most of the other kids in school tended to avoid Baseball, since his normally cheery and friendly disposition had done a complete 180 ever since Nickel left.

From his position, he could see all the other kids on the bus. Tissues sat with YinYang, quite a sight to see as Tissues constantly sneezed, and Yin excused it and tried to make him feel better as Yang shouted in protest and acted overly disgusted.

Microphone had headphones on. Soap was cleaning off a window. Marshmellow and Apple were playing rock paper scissors.

Everyone was so happy. They all had their little group of friends that they got along with.

Except for him.

After a long half an hour on the ass-scented bus, it finally pulled to a stop at the front doors of the other school.

"Ok, guys," MePhone4 stood up at the front of the bus. "Do NOT embarrass the school in here, okay? And please behave calmly to what we're going to announce at the assembly. It might shock you, but that's no excuse to act like a five year old. Now, let's go."

MePhone's statement left a lot of the students looking at each other, confusion painted on their faces. Was it really going to be that shocking?

The students filed into the school and headed to the auditorium, where the assembly would be taking place.

"Damn," Paintbrush breathed, looking around at the school. "Their school is way better then ours," they finished.

The school they attended wasn't awful-- it had two floors, and an abundance of extracurricular classes and after-school clubs, but that was about it. It was rather plain, and there were often problems with the lights and computers. The walls were beige, and the floor was just wood. Plus, the school itself was very old-- the floors creaked, and the walls were slightly bending in in some places. Not enough for it to be a health violation, but enough for it to be noticeable.

This school, on the other hand, was much more cheery. The walls were painted pastel blue, and murals were on every corner. Peeking into the classrooms, each one was customized according to the teacher. Each locker had stickers and magnets all over them. The floors were squeaky clean, and the building had a new scent to it.

Lucky bastards, Paintbrush thought.

As they approached the auditorium, the students could hear a robotic voice booming from inside. That voice belonged to the principal of this school, a man no student had seen but everyone had heard about. According to the teachers at their school who had met him, towards the beginning of the school's life he had been very active, leading everything and interacting with the students frequently. But as he had progressed in age, he had handed the reins off to two other, younger teachers. While he was still the principal, he didn't do much anymore.

"...We just have to wait for the others to get here."

They heard his voice echo throughout the large auditorium. MePhone stood in the doorway, and another teacher caught his eye, informing everyone that they had arrived. MePhone waved to the teachers on the stage and jogged to join them, leaving MePad, a teacher, to assist in leading the students to their seats.

They were seated on the right side of the auditorium, with the kids from the other school on the left. They were all staring at the newcomers as if they were aliens. Paintbrush scowled and took a seat beside Lightbulb and Test Tube.

Once everyone was settled, and the visiting teachers has joined MePhone on the stage, he spoke up.

"Well, you're probably wondering why we've gone through the trouble of gathering you all here today as opposed to telling you all the news separately," he chuckled a little as the students murmured.

"And that's because," the speaker-headed principal spoke up, "this announcement concern all of you as one."

"And what IS this announcement?" a gruff voice spoke from the back of the left side.

"Well, Eraser, if you'd let me finish my statement..." the principal retorted.

"Both of our schools are not doing the greatest right now. That, combined with our almost TOO big school and our visitors' smaller and less... polished school--"

A small growl of defensiveness went up from the right side, but it was ignored.

"Has led me and MePhone4 here to make a decision. We do realize this may be taxing for you all, and very sudden, but MePhone4 will be shutting his school down. The two school will be merging."

An uproar went up from every kid in the audience.

"WHAT?"

"Bruh moment,"

"SHUT UP, BLOCKY!"

"But, I don't wanna go here!"

"Good, we don't want you here either!"

"Guys, it's not that bad!" Lightbulb cried out. "Look on the bright side!"

"I'd rather die than go through with this!" Paintbrush growled, violently twisting around in their seat to face the kids from the other school.

In the process, an incredibly scared Baxter leaped out of their hoodie and scuttled down the aisle up to the stage.

"Lightbulb, why was Baxter in there?!" Paintbrush was almost ablaze with anger.

"I, uh, CATCH THAT CRAB!" Lightbulb shouted. The entire crowd shushed almost instantly as they noticed the stray crab skittering through the auditorium. Paintbrush and Fan jumped to their feet, as well as a few kids from the other side. As chaos erupted and shouting overtook any other sound, MePhone face palmed.

"This is a disaster already," he sighed.

"Yes. Yes it is." the Announcer agreed.
