This isn't any typical story. Most stories begin with life and end with death. This one, however, is the opposite.
My name is - well, was - Luna. I was the daughter of Artemis and the demigod of the night sky. My father was just a human theologian, which makes him a funny candidate for a seemingly mythical goddess's lover. She fell in love with him and finally decided to give up on her virginity, creating me. But enough about my parents. This story is my own.

I dodged to the left, narrowly missing ramming into a tree. My breath was labored and loud, my feet and head and heart all pounding painfully in unison. A loud roar of frustration urged me to somehow run faster. I looked up at the moon hovering in the night sky, cut out by branches whizzing by as I sprinted for my life.
Through heavy pants, I murmured," Mother...please...help..."
But none came. I felt tears running down my pale, moony cheeks from the exertion and exhaustion of keeping up the chase. "Please..." I begged.
No one answered my cries. "AUGH!" I yelped as my foot caught a root I hadn't seen in the dark. I went flying forward, inertia landing me a half dozen feet from where I tripped. The monster snarled gleefully as I struggled to stand, skin burning from the dirt scraping in fresh wounds. I pushed myself up shakily, turning to look behind and above me. The giant monster snarled, leaves brushing from the wind reacting to it. It felt as if my heart stopped before the blow hit, my frantically pulsing lungs failing before it even hit.
"AUCH!" I screamed in brief pain as my blood flew everywhere, staining the grass and the monster with maroon. My body screamed in pain, the monster's smug-looking face fading as my vision blurred dark, the searing sting fading as well.

'Rise, my vessel, and help me flood the world with discord. Rise and live once again!'
I groaned, sitting up much to my body's protest. I sat in the middle of a forest. Blood covered the area, covered my clothes, covered my skin. There was no wound, only a huge scar spanning my exposed chest and stomach. My ripped clothes did me no justice as I shuttered in the winter wind.
I looked at the moon. "Mother?" I mumbled. As if she would answer. She left me to die to her own monster. Artemis wasn't my mother anymore. Eris had saved me. I could feel it. I could feel new power growing inside of me, coming from her.
My new mother.
