"Hey"

I looked up from my laptop, to see my mum standing at the door frame of my new room. "Hey" I reply. "Love what you've done with the room" she said walking in taking a look around. "Thanks".

"How are you feeling?" she asked sitting down on the bed. "I'm fine just a bit jet-lagged" I explained. "Well nine hours on a plane would do that to a person" she joked, I lightly chuckled. "Hey how about I make us some American styled mac and cheese" she said happily. "We haven't even had British style mac and cheese, but sure I'll come down in five minutes" I tell her. She mumbled an okay and kissed my forehead, before leaving my room.

Releasing a huff, I take a look at my room. Noticing the photo collage by the door, I walk to it, smiling lightly to myself at all the memories from each photo, remembering the day we had before we took that photo. Now I'm behind them for seven hours, it's 2 pm here and 9 pm there. Holy shit it's 9 pm I can still talk to them. Grabbing my phone off my bed, sitting down I go on Snapchat sending a silly selfie to my best friends list. "Zoe" mum shouted from downstairs, throwing my bed back on the white floral bedspread I made my way downstairs.

"He-hey! There she is" my dad announced as I walked into the kitchen, sitting down on one of the wooden stools next to my brother Ray. "Are you excited about your first day at your new school?" he asked with a big smile. "Yeah ecstatic, only one question. What is my new school called?" I ask him back. He made eye contact with mum and they both grew a huge smile, I gave my brother a weird look as I took a sip from my water. "East High School" I choked. "East High School? Like in high school musical, like Troy Bolton?" I say way to excitedly. "Yes, sweetheart" laughed dad. My smile grew wider. OMG, I am going to go to the same school as my childhood musical! Reading my face, my mum saw me getting too caught up in my fantasies and decided to knock me back down to earth, "sweetheart just remember that the movie is a musical and it is not real. It is not going to be the same as the musicals" she told me. I gave her a deadpanned look. Seriously does she think I'm six? "Mum I am sixteen, I think I know school is not a musical." I told her.

Alex mumbled something while stuffing his mac and cheese down his throat. "And what the hell is that supposed mean?" I question. He looked at me and mumbled some more with a full mouth. "Oh, and you think you'll be better?" I ask. He just nodded while chewing his food. "Ok let's make a bet" I state. He raised his eyebrow, engaging me to go on. "Whoever makes a friend by the end of the day tomorrow, will" I pause thinking of what the winner will receive, "Will get the new MacBook" I smirk, his eyes went wide. "You're on" he spat. We shook hands. "Um, don't we as the parents get a say in this" protested mum. "well honey, they did buy the laptop together,so in a way it's their own responsibility" dad answered mum, mum just gave him a look, realising what he has done, he took his coffee cup and walked out. Mum sighed, "Listen, kids, even though you two bought that laptop together. It shall be mine until the end of the week". Alex and I's mouth dropped open, "Wh- mum that's not fair" Alex argued. "End of discussion. Besides I need it for work this week" mum said taking a sip of her tea and walking out of the kitchen.

"Ok, new bet" Alex said, twisting on his chair to face me. "The first person to make a friend gets... okay new bet, whoever makes a friend wins and gets to gloat". I just give him a cocky smile, taking his bowl that had half of the mac and cheese left and went back to my room. "Hey, that's mine", "not anymore" I tease walking up the stairs.
