Author's note:

So the end of episode 47 and the plot for episode 48... yeah....

Since Ayse isn't around to save the day anymore, I've done my best to fix it myself. I've created my own little bubble of paradise here in this one-shot. I will be living in here until Tuesday when the show bursts by bubble (pun intended).
Feel free to join me in here.
I'm leaving out the perfume/sneeze nonsense. Because that shit, I don't know how to fix.
Hopefully the new writers do. But my hopes are low. Like basement level low. Also going to assume Can lost the last 2 years of his memory. Not just and only Sanem. Because even for a TV show, that's ridiculous.
And because this one shot is entitled 'What Will Never Be', I've gone ahead and added a little Canem sex. If that's not your thing but you still want to be in this bubble with me, I'll add a warning before that happens and when to jump back in.
And because I know we all hate being side-swiped (no pun intended). I'm going to do something unheard of, I'm going to spoil the end of this story for you right now: Can gets his memories back and they both end up on that FREAKING BOAT!

What Will Never Be. Based on the first fragman for episode 48.

Sanem was standing on the rocks, their rocks. It was getting dark. The temperature was dropping and the wind picked up speed off the shore. She held her arms tightly and just let the tears fall freely. She had just heard Can get off the phone with Polen. She didn't hear the whole conversation, just enough to know who he was on the phone with. She walked away before she could hear anything else. It was enough to shake her to the very core. She had spent all week trying to help jog his memory of her. Nothing worked.

"Sanem?"

Sanem jumped at the sudden break of silence. She recognized Can's voice immediately and quickly began wiping away her tears before she turned around to face him.

"Hey!" She tried to put on her best brave face. "Do you need anything? Did you remember something?"

"Uh, no. I just wanted to make sure you were okay." Can had seen her walking away after he hung up with Polen. He knew she must have been upset and wanted to check on her.

"I'm fine."

"You don't seem fine to me."

"Well you don't know me." It came out harsher than she intended. A week of failed attempts to get the love of her life to remember her had taken its toll.

"That's not my fault."

Something in her snapped. "I know it's not your fault! It's MY fault! You were distracted because you were looking at me. And we were only in that car to begin with because you were taking me to visit my parents!"

Can remained calm, despite her outburst. "Sanem, is this another fake argument? Like you tried the other day here at these rocks? Are you still trying to get me to remember?"

Sanem flashed back to all her previous attempts to get him to remember. She bought back the agency and tracked down all the former employees. She took him to the archive room, brought tea to his office, asked how to work the copy machine. She changed her style to match more what she used to wear when they first met. She left her beloved farm to live at her parents, so she could be closer to him. She tried having a cookout out with him at their hut. She tried dousing herself in her scent. She even took him to the opera house. He read her book, cover to cover. Nothing.

"No." She said curtly.

"What is this then? Why are you yelling at me?"

Sanem was verging on livid now. "Because you promised me you wouldn't hurt me again. You promised me you wouldn't leave." She couldn't restrain herself anymore and shoved him. He barely moved. She went to shove him again but he caught her wrists and held her still. Their faces were right next to each other, noses barely touching.
