Readers POV
It's been two hours since I helped the knight deliver his message to the king I stood in the court yard nervously tugging on my dress . Being in the castle for some reason made me feel uncomfortable like some strange force was calling out to me ,daring me to find it . It didn't feel like the call of my flute like whenever I would miss place it , my flutes felt call was warm like the sun on my face , but this this felt cold and unnerving like spiders crawling up my legs and arms ,like something was watching me from beyond . I quickly shook my head to get rid of those thoughts and feelings focusing on the scenery to take my mind off of it . The Garden was beautiful probably the only calming thing about this place , Honestly I was hoping to leave soon but riding in on a bear with a bright shiny flute attached to your hip does bring attention to the Kings mage. Chuckling recalling how the knights eyes seemed to pop out of there heads as we rode in with Jerry holding on for dear life . I must have looked like a witch to them which in a way was true .
The longer we waited the more my patience was running thin as I hope to be gone before the sun gets two low .but the mage asked me to wait apparently wanting to speak with me after he had finished his "meeting" with the king .
Koda let out a snort behind me pulling on my cape , turning around putting my hands on my hips smiling lightly .
"Yes mr grump ? what's the matter you don't like the castle either", he puffed again whimpering as if telling me we should leave . I sighed petting his head gently putting my face in his fur . "Don't worry bud just a little longer I'm sure it will be quick alright " as I finished my sentence I heard a teenage male voice pipe up . "Are you talking to that bear?" . turning around quickly I was met with a boy he had to be at least 15 at the most ,a red scarf wrapped around his neck complementing his brown hair . MY face turned red with embarrassment being caught talking to koda which must have made me look insane .
"Maybe , maybe not " a nervous chuckle escaped my lips as he coughed awkwardly . "sooo "tapping my foot trying to come up with something but failing ,awkward silence ran through the garden before the boy spoke." oh uh yeah um I actually came to tell you that my friend Claudia was gonna come and get you ,but she ran into a problem with her brother and asked me to tell you lord viren would like to see you now " the boy scratched the back of his neck . nodding as I walked towards the castle before I entered I turned back to the boy."thank you oh um I'm afraid I never got your name?"" oh yeah my names callum "I nodded smiling before realizing " w-wait as in prince callum " I mentally freaked out. " yeah that's me " his voice cracked slightly , I quickly curtsied well tried to it looked more like I was twisting my ankle than anything.
I mentally beat myself up as he looked at me confused . " its alright you don't have to do that " I stood up nodding i turned around not wanting to face my embarrassment anymore quickly making my way to the kings mages study . As I walked around I realized I should have asked for directions before leaving all willy nilly . I decided to just keep searching for his room instead of asking for directions cause I mean I've made it this far already what else could happen to make my situation worse .
My foot steps echoed along the hallways of the castle walls before I felt that feeling again calling out to me only stronger my feet started to move on there own , it was as if something had sinister had possessed me the closer I got it started to feel colder . rounding the corner I slammed into a door opening falling backwards snapping me from my trance . The male who had opened the door quickly realized what he had done " are you alright ?" dusting my skirt off as I stood up " yeah im good honestly thanks for opening the door for me chivalry inst dead after all " I joked softly , the man seemed not as amused at my joke but relived I wasn't seriously hurt .
He looked at me before realizing " ah yes you were the maiden I asked to speak to come there is much to discuss " I blinked slightly at the fast change following him into the room confused , he turned to me inviting me to sit , Thanking him silently as I sat in a seat across from him . "tea?" he asked " no thank you i'm fine " there was an awkward pause as he sat down across from me before folding his hands .
"now I must inquire where did you get that sun elven flute "-
