There grandmother was a sun elf and grandfather a human so the reader has a little magic on her own but it can become more powerful (yep that's how I'm gonna word it ) if it's through a source like a wand or a musical instrument.( cough bard cough )
Bio:
The reader grew up with her grandmother and father, her mother had passed while giving birth to her ,
And her grandfather died of old age .
Her father rarely being there for her when she was young really took a toll on her caring for her sick grandmother all by herself . On her seventh birthday her grandmother had given her a beautiful golden flute and spell book to her ,a couple weeks after she passed from sickness leaving the reader home alone most of the time. When her father got home he was furious not wanting his daughter to learning magic for he said it's what got her mother killed . He took the book from her and the flute , she stole them back and would go out into the forest behind there house and practice . Years go on and she's 14 now one day she went out to practice and found a bear cub alone she went to look for its mother finding it dead coming back and carefully approached the cub it immediately imprinted on her not leaving her side thankfully her dad not being as home much anymore she decided to keep him . The small town taking notice of her bear and her constant leaving into the forest to practice started to gossip calling her the witch of the town which leads up to her 23 birthday which is where the story begins.
