chapter fourteen.

Start from the beginning

None of the adults knew though, not one of them knew of the way her fingers curled into her biceps, sharps nail piercing through pale, delicate skin until blood the colour of her eyes rolled down her skin. They didn't know that on the worst nights Aoi would wake up without a voice and would dejectedly ask Tsunade for herbs to help heal her throat.

Tsunade shifted the pink-haired girl, ignoring the way her chapped lips were curled in an insistent scowl, sweat beading her brow and tears in the corners of her eyes.

Tsunade looked away from her best friend tiredly, "Orochimaru-kun, Sakumo-kun, grab all my blankets and pillows and scatter them on the ground, we'll sleep there."

"Right," Both boys said, looking from Tsunade to Aoi then to each other. Tsunade frowned, watching as Aoi twitched in her sleep. Tsunade didn't feel guilty in hoping that Aoi wouldn't scream in her sleep.

Aoi woke up in a public pool.

Cool water lapped over her chest and she heard her friends laughing on the other side, screaming and splashing water at each other as adults chattered near the edges of the pool, not paying attention to their children.

Aoi found it funny. Being here in the place she tried her best to avoid, she supposed it was fate though, to wake up from such a wonderful dream and find herself among her old peers again. She supposed she'd have to make up with Keina Thomas, it wasn't like the girl had actually drowned her.

Aoi, no, she thought to herself frowning, Aoi was an imaginary person. Holly (Yes that's right) sighed and pushed herself up in the water and paused. Everything was, distorted, unreal and yet real at the same time. Like the world where she had talked with herself.

Holly (Aoi?) swam towards the blurry figures of her friends, her arms ached despite the muscle she had been building. But I've never worked out? Holly thought, confusion flooding her mind.

I do! Aoi reminded quickly, I work out!

Holly ignored Aoi, she didn't exist after all, and simply kept swimming. She had to get back to the party. Everyone was having fun so she should have fun too, right?

No! Aoi shouted, No! Orochimaru and everyone is waiting for us, we can't go to the party!

Holly's friends stopped partying when Aoi shouted, their distorted faces were scary and Holly shrunk away from them in fear but Aoi stood tall, Go away!

The faces sneered and both Holly and Aoi screamed when hands wrapped around their ankles and pulled them under the water. The adult voices were buzzing in their ears now, Holly was crying while Aoi's hands were wrapped around her own throat. Holly choked as someone else choked her and Aoi felt tears that couldn't be her own coming from her cheeks.

Aoi and Holly struggled against each other underwater. Each screaming loudly despite the burning feeling of water invading their lungs. They desperately tried to swim up but there was a pull on their ankles and the fell to the bottom of the pool, their vision spotted with black.

Aoi (Holly??? YESYESYESYES) screamed, bubbles escaped her mouth as the world around her bled to black. She was dying again, she was going to die here, she was going to die again as a useless nobody.

Holly (We're Aoi, damn it!) sobbed under the water, her chest was on fire and she wanted this to be over with. She was dying, she was dying and nobody was helping her, why wouldn't anybody help her?

Aoi and Holly's vision faded to black underneath the pool.

Holly didn't.

PLEASE DON'T SCROLL PAST THIS;

Hello everyone, I'm Scorpion the author of this story! I'm glad you're all enjoying this story but, as you all have surely noticed, this chapter came out about two weeks after the thirteenth one. This is because of some comments. Now you all mean well I'm sure but after some unsavoury comments, I can't just let it slide, even if the apologized afterwards.

Now, my main problem is the constant spam of update plz's, please update!, or update soon!

If you talk about how much you enjoy the story, or something else relating to it, and say I can't wait for the next chapter! or even, I can't wait to see what happens next! I'd be fine because it's less dispiriting. Yes, I love writing stories, it's my favourite past time, but when people only comment update, update, update it gets quite... taxing on me? It makes me feel as though I'm simply slinging out chapters just to please people and it sucks the fun out of writing and thus, I don't write and no one gets a chapter for like, weeks.

This is serious, I want all of these comments to please stop. It sucks the fun out of everything and that's not fun for me. Anyways, thanks for reading!
